The tree that would not STAND UP.

I figured you wouldn't believe it if I didn't show you...

Notice anything different??

No?? How about now?:

No, I'm not kidding, this tree is falling over again. I noticed it while I lounged on the couch out there the other night. Yeah...relaxing...imagine that. Later that night, I kind of wiggled it and it ALMOST FELL OVER AGAIN. Hubby was asleep, Sister was asleep, so there I was with my drill and drywall anchors at midnight, drilling holes in the wall to keep this bleeping thing up till Christmas!

Whew. Hubby swears "It will be fine." I swear to you, if it falls again, I. Will. Lose. It.

Anyhoo...I wanted to show you some of my favorite decorations that I hadn't shown you yet. There are more, but you'll just have to wait till next year. :) Warning: Picture overload!!

My favorite Santa. He watches over the countdown. Can you even believe Christmas is here?!:

Of course I have to dress up the brass knobs. (ugh.) I made these years ago and it was so easy -- a few extra sprigs of garland, a few berries and an ornament twisted together:
More GORG magnolias:

My second cookie jar...this one was brand new at Goodwill for $5:

Yippee! I love this boot! (Rebecca, do you recognize it?):

Even the lamps don't escape me...buwuwahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!:
I used rub on snowflakes for the mirror. $1.50 on sale, and I'll keep them up through the winter:
The scrolly mirror holds our cards every year:

Dollar store snowflakes that hang in the windows:

I adore these little birds!! So much so, I paid full price of $3 for them at Target!! I'm eyeing them for Friday -- but there's only a few left...I'll knock you out of the way if you go for 'em. Not kidding.

ACK! Tell me these are not CAAAUUUTE!! They were $1.99 each at Kirkland's!:

More glass things for me to put stuff in...this is a cake stand and dome (yes it's a stand, weird how it looks like it's sitting on the island!) and I stuffed it with goodies:

I also hang ornaments from the windows:

I took some advice from Amanda and wrapped my candles with ribbon.
Guess where I got the ribbon? From Amanda!! I won her Dollar Tree trees and I love them!! Ahhh! And she made me a little notebook! Seriously, she rocks!! (Tag!) (By the way, I want a ton more. If any of you see them, let me know and I will pay you for them and shipping!!)

And finally, we are ready for Santa...just need to make the cookies. I searched for a Santa's cookie plate for almost two months. Found this at our state museum of all places, half off, last weekend!:
The carafe was free from the cookie exchange. Enough said:

I'm off to wrap a million presents!! I'm going to take a few days off to visit your sites and catch up. Like always, if you'd like me to visit and I haven't, let me know!
Merry, merry, merry Christmas to you!
I hope you have a blessed holiday and a wonderful new year.
I appreciate you all so very much.
P.S. Say a prayer for my tree. :)

  9. Sarah, Merry Christmas. I can't believe it's already here. Your decor is so sweet!!

  10. My inlaws' trees used to be so big that they'd have to anchor it to the wall for support!

I love all your ideas and need to save them for next Christmas. I'm all "decorated out" this season!

  11. Love the rocking horse cookie jar! What a find.... Did not see those sweet birdies at our Target, darn it.

    The Blue Ridge Gal

  12. I've certainly enjoyed all your beautiful Christmas decorations! Have a Merry Christmas!

  13. Wait. Mom, is that you?

My parents have eye hooks on the edges of their door frame for this very reason. Christmas trees with no will to live!

Here's hoping yours hangs in there. Pun so totally not intended!

  14. Your decorations are just so dang cute! I am going to observe a moment of silence right now and say a prayer for your tree........O.K. I'm done. Maybe I helped it survive the next few days. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!!

  15. Hope your tree stays up!

I love the cards around the mirror! I have a similar scrolly mirror, I'm totally doing that next year!

  16. Merry christmas! I love your cookie plate. It is adorable!

  17. OMG, we have a tree like that this year, too! It didn't actually fall because I noticed it before it got that far, but it was leaaaaaning...., and then when I touched it it nearly went over. Terrible!

Anyway, I just stopped by to say Merry Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful holiday (tree and all)!
    ~Angela :-)

  18. your home looks beautiful and man I would love to shop with you after christmas..LOL and by the way my tree fell over last year while I was under it watering the dang thing my cat jumped in it, this year I was on my way to bed and I heard a crash bang boom and yeah it fell over!!! I swear I told my husband it was leaning and he said "nahhhh it's as straight as an arrow",,,uhuh never again will I trust his skills on tree alignment!!!LOL Merry Christmas!!

  19. I have to note that all your gifts are wrapped in red and white paper... So are mine! I wanted green ribbon but that was a pain to find the right green. I love the way it look under the tree. Every year I attempt matching paper, until my gifts from hubby come. I should just be glad that they are wrapped at all. Merry Christmas!

  20. Did I tell you the story of having to do this to my tree once before?(If not, I meant to when your tree first fell down!) Some trees are just pesky and try to escape! It'll be fine now that you've taken him prisoner!

    Have a wonderful Christmas! Hugs,Lacey

  21. Hi Sarah,
Happy holidays to you and happy new year in advance. I am happy to have found your blog and love to see all your thrifty ideas. I love those red birds. I will have to check out our local target when our weather permits me to do so. i hope they have atleast one left for me.

  22. Hi Sarah, lovely post! I'll check my Dollar stores here for those adorable trees, and let you know if I find them. I saw them about a month ago while shopping with my mom, and she gave me "the look". She didn't like them, so I second guessed myself, lol. But I love them!

And maybe I should have you look for more of those snow flakes for me, and I'll do the same. :)

    Merry Christmas!!

  23. I can't get over that tree! It just won't stay!

Those birds are beautiful...hope we don't shop at the same target... ;-) lol

    Beautiful home!

    Merry Christmas!!!

  24. My tree almost fell down last year (and it is huge by the way) and after my neighbor came to the rescue, I told my husband that we could put fishing wire up and a hook and the tree wouldn't fall then:) I don't blame you for doing that. I would have LOST IT too if it would have come down again. Merry Christmas!

  25. Oh no on the tree!! But it should stay put now!!

Everything in your home is just WONDERFUL!!!

Wishing you and your family a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  26. Merry Christmas Sarah! I hope your tree stays up :)

  27. That tree just cracks me up! LOL Love the bird ornaments! Merry Christmas

  28. how the heck do you DO all of this?? i'm exhausted and delirious today!! merry merry christmas! everything looks amazing!

  29. My aunt fastened hers to the ceiling with fishing line for a year or two when my cousins were little.

  30. It seems like the tree has a mind of its own. :-) I like the mirror w/ the christmas cards. Neat idea.

  31. Girl, you know it ain't Christmas till the boots come out! Now you just need to fill them with coal... And I think you need a cowboy Santa to ride on your rocking horse cookie jar-heehee. I must have that carafe! Even though I'm sure it would get broken. You better "spill" where they found it (corny pun intended) Merry Christmas!

  32. You always have wonderful little found treasures!

I'll be thinking happy thoughts for your tree, and maybe that will help it stay upright!

    Have a very Merry Christmas!

  33. Oooh! Your tree! Way to diy it...you are one tough momma! And I love all your other festive touches...Merry Christmas! Ashley

  34. Hope your tree makes it! Your house looks great, I love all the little details!

    Merry Christmas!

  35. I. WANT.THAT.HO HO HO. PLATE!!!!! That is the cutest. I am so glad you got your package in time for Christmas...I was seriously doubting the postal service. Aren't those felt trees PRECIOUS? I have 5 and I still want more. I hope you have a super-dee-duper Merry Christmas and a blessed new year!

    Love ~ Amanda

p.s. You rock my world, Sarah! (TAG)

  36. You really are such a thrifty chick and I love that! I am always trying to make things at a good price. I love your resourcefulness and "sticktoitiveness" in not giving up on that tree! Carol

  37. Merry Christmas Sarah!!! i love those ornaments. I am sorry for laughing when I see your Christmas tree lol.... I am glad you made it!

  38. That happened to my parents one year - every morning the tree would be on the floor! My dad ended up doing the same thing you did!

    Thanks for the memory!

    Merry Christmas!

  39. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  40. Happy Christmas - hope you had a happy day! The decorations are so cute.

  41. I have so pulled that tree trick before!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and send you warm wishes for a Happy New Year!

  42. Where are the notecards from, so cute! And those felt trees...this is the 2nd time I have seen them in blogland...but I never saw them at The Dollar Tree this year, drats!

You are brave for going to Target today, hope you got some great deals!

Hope the tree is still standing! lol

  43. OK- so next year, you need to have a "tour of homes" 'cept it's just your house and you have litlle printed out tutorials (aka cheat sheets) next to everything. Sound like a good idea? OK, good. I'll bring a bottle of wine!

  44. Your decorations are just beautiful and the tree, good job!!

I hope that you and your family had a wonderful and Merry Christmas this year!

  45. Beautiful!!!

Oh, how I adore your cute red birds, the Santa boots & the tail on the rocking horse cookie jar is to-die-for!

    Visiting from Boomama's site.

  46. My tree decided to start falling over 2 days ago (the day my parents came to town to stay at my house!). One of the legs on the stand broke, and of course it's an artificial tree, so no replacement can be bought...
I had to put hooks in the wall and tie it up too!
THEN, silly me, I decided to bring home a 6 month old rescued cat who is CRAZY and loves climbing my tree.
Needless to say, I think it was destiny that my tree decided to fall when it did, otherwise the cat would've knocked it down and broken all my ornaments!
