Three $5 spring craft projects

March 29, 2009

Let's start with one of the cutie moss bunnies at Pier One. I've picked these up about four times in the past month or so, but couldn't figure out what to do with them. Last week, it hit me:
easy bunny in pot craft A pot I already had, along with foam and moss I already had. Add in a $2 mossy bunny: fuzzy green bunny in potACK! Adorable! Stuff the foam in, stuff the moss on top, stuff in the bunny. You are DONE.
My other project was one I'm really excited about -- because I know you already have half of it in your cabinet: easy jute vase DIY
If you are the ONE person on earth who does not have the generic glass vase that comes with all flowers, then just get your booty over to Goodwill -- they've got about 25 waiting for you.
I used my jute twine (correction from this post -- I thought it was sisal but turns out jute has a slightly darker look that I like better than the sisal) and wrapped it around and glued it like I did the bottles.
glass vase wrapped in jute stringI. love. it. It screams Spring to me. I threw in the "faux" flowers till I splurge on some white tulips. (When did tulips get so expensive??):
jute wrapped around glass vase And I have to show my under $5 projects from last week as well -- you can find them here. My son's art caddy: tool box turned craft caddyLittle container for little toys: DIY cute container with scrapbook paperFour custom tags for under $2: DIY basket label with scrapbook paperFun little magnets: wood bus cut out magnet

I'm so excited, I can't wait to start! I might even send myself some flowers too, just to get another vase. But you can bet it won't be tulips b/c the ARE expensive!!

  38. Just go to Costco for flowers, under 10$ for a bunch of spring-y flowers and under 20$ for 2 dozen roses(only 1 dozen during valentines, though). I always get the best flowers from them, and they have tulips sometimes!

  39. These bunnies are just too cute!! I like all your "inexpensive" projects! That art caddy is a great idea...my grandson could use something like that for all his "art supplies", I think every crayon, felt tip pen and color pencil somehow ends up on my family room floor! LOL!

  44. I absolutely love you!!! You are freakin' hilarious and keep me up way past my bedtime!!! You have turned me on to Goodwill shopping...never thought of that one. I am doing the vase with wrapped twine right now. I purchased the vase for .99 (I did not have any of these vases lying around because I gave them all to Goodwill) and the twine was $1.00 in the Target Dollar Spot. My husband used Elmer's glue to glue the twine because he's so freakin' impatient and couldn't wait for the tacky glue...we'll see if it holds. I'm still looking for flowers that I like. I'm not sure what color I'm going with yet, but I really like your white ones. Thanks for the idea and for keeping me entertained!
