God made iPhones for bloggers

I think I have died and gone to heaven.

Remember my taped together phone from my last post? So many of you were so sweet and harassed me, made fun of me made me feel so much better about my crappy phone.

You must know that I've been through about four phones in two years. I had a cute little pink one when our son was born. And it was soooo adorable when he would want to play with it and then eat it. It died. So did the others -- throwing, dropping, baby goo, whatever you can think of...they all died.

So the last time I said, I'm not buying another nice phone again until he's out of this stage. I've learned he'll never be "out of this stage" so I decided I wanted something NICE. Hence this glorious purchase:

Hubby has had one for years and I've never understood how he can lay in bed for an hour before sleeping, just messing around on this thing. Ummmmm YEAH.

Now I get it.

I am telling you people, it is freakin' amazing. AMAZING. I can get on the Internet from ANYWHERE. I can play just about any game I want. Look -- I got a free "app" that's a level:
I would have never known that our kitchen island isn't level if I didn't have this phone. What would I have done??? (And yes, just another example of how weird I am -- I'm a tool kind of girl and this about put me into a tizzy when I saw it.)

I'm still not sure what "apps" are -- just fun stuff you download I think. Like the faux lighters you see lit up at concerts. Freakin' adorable.

Look what I can do whenever I want:
Check your e-mails!! Look -- there are NONE in the inbox. I push.a.button and there they are. I've checked them ALL!! Oh good God, I'm not kidding, this is the best second best like, fifteenth best day of my LIFE.

So if I'm sitting in the doctor's office, I'll never be bored again.

Cause I have the iPhone. (Why didn't I have this when I was pregnant??)

I won't be bored at a stop light, because I'm so impatient I can't wait for 15 seconds.

Cause I have the iPhone.

I won't get bored drying my hair.

Cause I have the iPhone.

(You think I'm kidding.)

It even has a pretty decent camera on it: Giddy.

Now just like Crackbook, I'm sure this will wear off eventually. (Right?)

It does make me worry that we are creating a generation of kids who won't be able to just sit and not do anything. That part of this stuff freaks me out a bit. I have a love/hate relationship with technology.

But for now...I LOVE.

  3. "Why would I need an iPhone?" I ask my self, "When I can carry my regular cell phone, an iPod and MP3 for backup, a 300 page book, a notebook and pen, a 3-foot level, a camera, Pepto Bismol, a checkbook and billfold, two eyeglass cases, a compact, hand sanitizer, a tape measure, three packs of gum, TicTacs, a sample of our counterop, a sample of our flooring, a sample of the granite for the builds 7 tubes of lip gloss, and too many paint chips to count?
    "Why?" I ask myself. Why?

  4. My hubby also has loved his iphone for some time now, but I never understood what all the fuss was about until my friend got one. WOW. They are amazing. I am due for an upgrade next month, and can't wait!

  7. Congrats! I love the iphone but have had bad luck with AT&T.... I'll have to wait until it is available with my cell phone provider. (2015 I think - darn it!)

I just wanted to tell you that I did my first spray painting today. My project turned out beautiful and it was all so cheap. Half off + $3 for spray paint and it is FABULOUS!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas!!!

  8. Dude- I've had one for almost two years, and the new doesn't ever wear off. I just hope they are here permanently because IF mine ever dies, I would not know what to do!

  9. The iPhone is life-changing. Seriously.

    Glad you got one!

  10. They're so cool. The one tool I wish my blackberry had is wi-fi. It would make my life so much better!

  11. OMG Jealous!! I have a crappy phone, plus I prefer my carrier, but dang I wish I had an iPhone anyway. I am seriously happy for you, especially after seeing the old phone hehe. Have fun!!

  12. I have not met a person who did not fall instantly in love with their IPhones! I think part of the draw is that there are so many different apps out there that there is something for everyone! ;) Congrats on your new love!

  13. Like the other Jessica above, I also only have the iTouch, but it is very addicting, too. I have the level and many other fun apps. Get AppSniper to be thrifty about apps! It will show you the apps that are being offered for free every day! It rocks! Oh yeah, they have a Crackbook app, too. And don't even get me started on the games! Diner Dash rules my life right now!

Enjoy that iPhone! Maybe someday I'll be as cool as you! ;)

  14. I have 2 phones: A Blackberry for work that I get my work (and personal) emails on (which is totally addictive!), and a regular little personal (pink) cell phone...that I pretty much use for talking to my mom :).

My son has an itouch and it looks soooo cool. Between his itouch and your iphone, now I kind of want to upgrade my personal cell. Blast! There's so much stuff out there to want!

Do you have to pay extra to get emails? Just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That is quite a step up for you! ;D I am glad you like it. Hubby has one and I refuse to take the plunge...too cheap to pay for a second Iphone each month!

But that is a SUPER cute picture of you!!

  16. Welcome to the club. And yes they are freaking amazing!!!! I can't go ANYWHERE without my phone! My husband has a Blackberry and he can hardly keep himself from RUNNING to the Apple store to get an iPhone. I love all the apps and how you have an iPod wherever you go now!

  17. You are making me feel jealous about the iPhone, but are making me feel better that I do not have the only husband who will lay in bed and mess around with his phone.

(So it's kind of like this post didn't happen.)

(Kidding. I love EVERYTHING you post.)

  18. Love your blog, love your phone, love your hair!

  19. Oh I'm glad to hear you've crossed over to the dark side, never to go back again. The apps are just fun "time wasters" for you to have. And some of them, like the level, really do work! Just a heads up, be careful texting while driving (especially with your little one) because just yesterday I almost rearended a lady because I was trying to load my Twitter app. (Shh, don't tell my husband. Who, by the way, stays up for hours playing on MY iPhone while still insisting that he doesn't need to get one.)

    Happy iPhoning!

  20. I am a new follower - but, I've had my iphone for about 7 months and agree - it rocks...we love ours..of course we both have them...and can stay on them for a long time - it definately is a a multi tasker and a practical device and streamlines my purse or makes room for more depending on your gender...

    Happy iphoning

  21. Well of course it has a decent camera on it... would you expect something less from Steve Jobs? All we use is Apple products in our house... wish the rest of the world would wise up, um... not you... I mean the rest of the world.

  22. You will love it! My last phone I had had for 2 years and still couldn't figure out how to add contacts. I got the IPhone and I love it! Congratulations!

  23. You will love it even more the more you explore! there's so many photography apps that rule! also, a free program app called kindle. I have a post on my blog about it somewhere. you can buy books for so cheap and they download right to the kindle app and wala! a book right there on the phone. so here's the trick, break it about 9 months into it so you can get a new one on the 1 year warranty plan.

  24. hahahahahaha I heart my iPhone almost as much as I heart my husband. Yeah, it's that awesome. I got mine for Christmas in 2007, and I love every single thing about it. Congrats on your new purchase!

I Twitter, Facebook, and check email all day long if I'm out and about.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh, and of course I have the level app on mine, too. And the ruler app!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congratulations! Wondering what the monthly fee is with the internet. Guess I better check it out. Please, be careful while driving and at stop lights be alert, you are way too valuable to lose.

  27. My hubby has one too, and was thinking last week that I wanted one too. I haven't told him that yet. Of course, I tend to buy inexpensive things that could possibly be run over, dried in the dryer or washed, etc. And yes, I've done those things to various items, like sunglasses, phones and my retainer when I was in high school--my parents made me pay for a new one. So I'm thinking an IPhone might be in danger w/me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh Lordie. I've been wanting one for awhile. You wiley temptress. Stop enticing me with that level. And fake lighter. And capability to get online when I start to twitch as I running errands & such.

Also, just a thought. Your profile pic is VERY deceiving. Look at it again. It looks like you have LOTS of hair. Like really long hair. In reality, you have a very cute, sometimes curly bob. I've just been thinking about that for awhile. lol.

    :)

  29. I LOL'ed at this post because I actually checked my iphone while blowdrying this morning. It is a sickness! (But a very fun sickness.)

  30. I am so jealous yet so happy for you! I want one SO BAD! I think they are the coolest thing ever (my hubby is not so convinced...) I still have my hopes high that I may get one for my birthday :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. That is so fabulous! I didn't know what all the fuss was about, but another blogger posted about it a couple of days ago, and now you! It sounds really cool!

  32. This is why I'm not allowed to have an iPhone. I feel like I'd lose track of my kids or something...

    ReplyDelete
  33. oh, I've been wanting one and trying to convince myself I don't need one... this didn't help...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ha, you are so funny. My kids are like, "what are you laughing at"

I don't have an iphone but I do have the itouch so I can totally get me app fix anytime I want. The email anywhere would be great though. My kids love the movies. I have 1 hour of Dora for there enjoyment.

  35. Look at your super cute short haircut!

Love the iPhone. Now I want one!

    ReplyDelete
  36. You look so ridiculously pleased with yourself in that picture! It made me giggle with glee for you!

When they advertised the level application on one of the commercials I just about peed myself. I love tools as well! I've asked for 3 different laser levels 3 Christmas's in a row & am never fully pleased with them! Gah... have a good laser level recommendation?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yep. I'm so there with you. I've had my iPhone for over a year now, and it is the best. And sorry to tell you, but I have the Facebook app & it doesn't really wear off. You just want to convert the rest of the world. :)
    Enjoy your new toy.

  38. I think I want one now but what I really wanted to comment on was your hair! It looks fab...did you put some highlights in it. LUVVVV it

    ReplyDelete
  39. CONGRATS!!!! I have the Itouch and love all the apps!!! :)

  40. I love my iPhone more than a person should love a phone. I believe it makes lights turn green. I grab for my phone and get into something and boom and the light turns green. ;) The love definitely does not wear off, if anything, as you download more apps, applications by the way, you become even more addicted. The level app, is also notably touchy and has a tendency to not be calibrated right...especially the free version...fyi.

  41. I don't understand how I ever lived without my iPhone. Hubster got me one for Mother's Day last year and it's like a whole new world. I get all of my emails in an instant, like yours today about being my sister, when I was having my oil changed in my car. Yes, iPhones are heaven for bloggers, sent from God above.

BTW, I had to assemble those barstools before I recovered the seats, and I did it all in one day, so the answer is yes, we are sisters and we were separated at birth.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I could not live without mine!

  43. GREEN with jealousy here, and it ain't that cute Apple Green color from Lowe's either.
Congrats. and I hate you. Just kidding, I just want to be as fab as you. :)

  44. My friend loves hers. We were on a girls weekend and I wanted an electric long island ice tea, and the bartender didn't know how to make it. So we downloaded the recipe from her phone.

  45. I'm glad I don't have one of those....I would be in so much trouble.

Your pic is so different from the profile pic on your blog. Your hair is so different...I like it!

  46. Am I the only person in the free world that does not have a cell phone??? (don't answer that)

I can't figure out how everyone affords them!!

Sigh! Yes, I know I need to get with the times!!

Congrats on your phone. You are making EVEN ME want one now!!

  47. You're love will never die - and it will become your best friend when you get lost or need the number to the nearest pizza place. But I'm just happy to see you have a case already. I have broke my glass twice, yes two times and it is EXPENSIVE! (and my love is so strong I keep going back!)
