Coming in 2010!

Happy New Year! Hope you had a great evening and first few days of the year!

I am SO excited about some of the bloggy events I have planned for 2010. I wanted to share the plan with you so you know what’s coming up.

The first is the Before and After Party, which I’ve decide to make a monthly event. It will take place on the first Monday of every month. All you need is a before picture and your final picture. It can be anything – a DIY project, organizing progress, crafts, whatever! I adore seeing transformations so this party has really been fun for me!

Get ready cause the first party of the year is this Monday, the  4th (I’ll actually have the linky up late on Sunday evening). Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!

beforeAndAfterButton

I’ve got some great giveaways set up for the year, the first is this coming weekend. You will love it! I’m so excited because it’s different from any of the other giveaways I’ve done.

Which brings me to my next shindig – instead of the organizing party we did last year, I think a cleaning party is in order. It’s that time of year! ;) Join me on Monday, January 18th to share your favorite cleaning tips, products, etc:

fresh01

I’ve already started decluttering (Toys!! Gah!), and soon I’ll begin the massive cleaning of our house I do every year. I’ll also take you through the process I use to declutter, clean and organize each room in our home.

And I’ll make you get rid of your crap. I will. Get ready. :)

Finally, throughout the year, at least monthly, I’ll school you in every little detail about the tools I use for my home improvement (and even some craft) projects. I hope to use lots of video for these posts, so I can really show you how to use the tools.

You’ll get to go to school, learn and not worry about passing a test! Woohoo! And if you skip class I won’t even know. Yesssss.

Well, that’s the big plans for the year! I’ve got some home projects I can’t wait to tackle, but first, I must go weed through more toys. They are multiplying. I’m not even kidding. Help.

  3. Can't wait for all the fun to begin. I just moved into a new house so I don't have much to clean out but I do love to organize. I just started blogging and I don't know how to do the linky thing but I will try and teach myself before the next party.

  4. Ooooh, fun and exciting! I'll probably be taking more notes than offering tips for the cleaning posts, but I've got something I can link up for your first Before and After Party. Looking forward to all you got planned!

  10. I'm so excited! I just finished my ornament wreath you posted. So I'm early for 2010 instead of late for 2009. :) Kiddo has been choosing 10 Hot Wheels a day to give away as part of the toy cleanup. He's almost 5 so they can't just disappear at night - he notices. I'm starting to twitch in my office so it is next to get organized/cleaned.

  13. whoohoo!! On the toy declutter... with three kids... the toys triple around here. What I do is make them get rid of the # equal to what they are bringing in. It has helped! Good luck!

  15. Girl, you wanna know what my "crap clutter" is??? CLOTHES! Mounds and piles and drawers crammed full of 2 little girlies old clothes. If you can make me get my butt in gear and get rid of them I may just buy you a new car...Well, maybe not a car but for SURE a cup of coffee! ;)

  19. You keep mentioning that you are going to get us to get rid of our crap...more power to you, I need a big kick in the butt!! So excited for that. I always want to do it, but am too afraid to or something. Everything has sentimental value to me, but I am starting to suffocate so something needs to be done. Help!

  23. Can't wait! We are in the midst of major project central around here...can you say hardwood floors? OMG...why do I do these things during the holidays (could be it's the ONLY time I can get hubby to take off of work???). I am soooo excited about trying new things this year...ON MY OWN! Keep up all the wonderful posts and ideas.

  24. I just took a break from organizing/cleaning/purging/consignment piling toys myself, and am thrilled for what you have in store for us. Have any tips on how to tell your mother-in-law not to give your 3 year old a 6753 piece plastic jewelry set that breaks before you even get it home from her house. And leaves beads every.where.? Please? ;)

  25. Oh goody!! I actually have something planned to post that will work for your party tomorrow night. :)

This is a hard time of the year. It's a big job to pack up all the decorations, plus put away all the new gifts (if your son is at all like my kids, he probably wants to play with stuff as soon as you've put it away), write thank you's, AND purge/organize what you already have.

I made two trips to Salvation Army last week, and I have more trips in the works. ;) The toys are out of control here!

  26. Awesome!! Looking forward to it. I've been spending lots of time the last few days cleaning and purging in the basement. I've decided that me and Goodwill are going to be great friends this year. I just have way to much "stuff" in my house and it's driving me crazy :)

  27. Oh this will be so fun! I have some crazy cleaning tips to share... From Vodka to Car polish, I sure do have a few good ones, and I can't wait to see what else is out there!!

I'm sure your before and after party will help me get my butt in gear!! I have oodles of ideas that need the nudge to get started!! :)

  34. I'm really excited! I've been taking my time to pare down and organize my Christmas decor, and I have a huge stack of "stuff" that's going to Goodwill and not back up in the attic.

Thanks for the motivation - and the great photos!

  36. The toy days in this house are way, long gone, but not forgotten. I had to be sneaky... very sneaky about getting rid of them. The old weeding out process. Why do kids these days need so flippin' many toys???? Talk about A.D.D. in the making.

Good luck with your toy tackling today!

  40. Not sure I will be able to participate, since we live in a tiny apartment that we will only be at for the next 2 years, and I literally have NO money to anything other than put my children's drawings on the walls as "art" BUT...I will certainly be looking and cataloging ideas for the years to come! :)

  41. Thank you - I am SO looking forward to the cleaning and organizing inspiration. Love your enthusiasm for it!

  47. I have been in the mood for decluttering since I started Christmas shopping and wondering where it's all gonna fit!!

And the tools, I'm very happy about! I told my husband today that I wanted him to buy me a circular saw and stand for Valentines Day. He looked at me like he wasn't about to fall in that trap so I will probably buy one myself!

  48. So many good things planned, so glad I follow your blog :-)

  54. I love to get rid of my crap. But my husband does not. Can you make him, even if he doesn't read your blog? Thanks.

  55. The New Year totally inspires me to declutter and clean, so I am LOVING this idea! I've already sorted out my clothing closets, and I'm tackling the basement next.

  56. Awesome! Can't wait to join in on the festivities!

  57. This looks so warm and inviting! You know instead of painting the speaker maybe you could find some type of iron artwork to cover the speaker and then add one or two smaller framed pictures to the mix to create a collage on the wall. (This would mask the speaker but still allow sound to pass through the iron artwork (Think frame w/ some type of iron design inside it).

I love this little nook - so cozy!

  58. Can't wait!! Thanks for all the bloggie writings - I read every day. Thanks again!!
