So Fresh and So Clean!

Whooo! This is so fun. The new design is live!

If you are in a reader you’ll probably have to click through to see it.

I know, it’s horribly overdue. I’ll be the first to admit that I tend to focus way more on projects and writing and not enough on the business side of things. I’m always trying to find a good balance. I did have a design in the works a couple years back but it fell through. I just didn’t make it happen again till recently.

I’m really excited about this one though. Every time I see it I like it even more. :) I LOVE how fresh it is! I’ve been busy cleaning some things up this morning and we still have to add one more small item, so there will be some minor adjustments. For the most part things are done though!

There are a few details that have changed that I love. First of all, my header is now clickable to bring you back to the main page. Welcome to 2015 baby! (For some reason I wasn’t able to do that before.)

I love that my social media buttons are organized to the left now as well – each are clickable so you can easily follow me on any of these sites as well:

social media buttons

I’m most excited about the new, wider page for photos though. Just for fun let’s see how wide we can go:

board and batten walls What the what. That is massive. HA!! OK, they won’t be that big very often. But at least I CAN do it if I want. (On a side note – I still can’t figure out why my photos are blurry lately. It’s a Blogger issue from what I hear. Does anyone know about this? It’s not the size, as they are big files and they look great when I’m loading them.)

I’ve adjusted the link color darker because it was too light for some – hopefully that is working better for you. I may play around with that some more. Some extra ads are showing where they weren’t before and I’m working on addressing that. (That had nothing to do with my design or the designer, it was a network glitch of some kind that showed up at the same time.)

Also, if you are reading online I have switched to a mobile friendly version. I actually don’t like mobile, I prefer sites as they are on the computer, even on my phone. But Google has made it mandatory to use a mobile site from this point on, so it’s a must. (If you are reading there you can go to the bottom and click “web version” to see the whole site.)

I shared the updated header tabs last week – but if you missed it you can see my latest projects and paint colors on the projects tab. And all of my most frequently asked questions are updated here.

Again, Sarah with Sweet Theory Designs has done such a great job – check her out if you have any design needs! It’s a little terrifying having someone do all of that work on the back end (content is precious) but she was extremely professional and efficient.

Next up…moving to WordPress. Someday. Later. :) Have a great weekend my friends, I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled programming next week!

  1. it seems like no one ever takes the time to comment anymore and it makes me sad, but I realized I'm guilty of it too. So I'm trying to do better and here's my comment: love you, love your blog, been following along since the beginning! Love the new look! That's all.

    1. Thank you! I tried that before and it didn't help! So frustrating. I just downloaded the same photo using photobucket and now it's fine. Grr. Just wish I could figure out why it's been doing that.

  11. I just moved to Wordpress and I'm glad I did but it's very overwhelming compared to Blogger. Your new site design looks awesome!

  12. I think this may be my first time commenting, but I've been following your blog for awhile and really enjoy it. I like the new design, although I didn't see anything wrong with the old one!

One thing I noticed...I found your blog several months ago when I did a Google search on how to make a sofa table...I found your instructions from 2009 and it worked out great! So easy, inexpensive and it is a size that I couldn't have purchased if I wanted to (long and skinny). I noticed that that particular project isn't on your projects page and was wondering how you decide what does and doesn't make it there? Is it just the more recent ones? "Cause that was a great one and I recommend it be added!

  16. Lovely! As cute as your other design was, a bright, clean design is easier to read. I like it!

  17. Is it possible to make the print a little darker? Many of us of a certain age need a bit more contrast for easier reading. The new site is very nice. Thanks.

  20. Looks great. So fresh and so clean! (Is that a 90s song or is my imagination? :D) And crisp too. Love the blue and white. It's very you. I need a blog design of some sort for my Blogger blog too, I will check out Sweet Design Theory. Thanks!

  24. Great change! It suits your home's new look as well. The older version suited your more earthy home colours. This one is fresh just like your home looks in your pictures.

  31. LOVE IT!! Super pretty and fresh! I've also had fuzzy photo issues with Blogger...is that one of the main reasons for wanting to make the switch to Wordpress? Have a great weekend, Sarah! =)

  34. I really like it!! In fact, that large picture allows me to see your side chairs much better and although I know you have mentioned the source for those chairs, I forgot where they are from. Can you refresh my memory? I am looking for some of them; I noticed some come with a caned seat and some come with a wood seat. Yours look like they have a cushion? Need to know. Thanks. (You may regret these large pics - produce more questions ;))

  38. I love the new format just as I love everything in your home!

  39. It looks beautiful! You had the other one a long time. I have the opposite problem. I keep wanting to change mine. Think before you jump to WP. I did it for a year and hated it. There are very few things in WP that I can't manage to figure out a way to do in Blogger. And SO fewer headaches. Congrats on your new look!

  40. Congratulations on your new look! I feel really bad asking this because I am a big fan, but is it possible at all to shrink the ads at the left a bit? This morning when I opened your page (it loaded quickly I might add) there was this huge tire ad that was so bright that it made it hard to concentrate on what your writing. I tried closing and reopening which made it worse because then I got a animated sparkling toy ad. They seemed to be easier to ignore when they were on the right. I guess my old eyes just automatically move to the far left as if reading a book.
Once again congratulations on your new design. Can't wait to see more updates on your kitchen.

  41. It is a beautiful layout... but the background is going wonky when I scroll like a hidden picture. I think if it was a little larger it would display better. A giant leap forward!!!

  42. I've been a long-time fan of your blog, this new layout makes me love it even more. Great job!
