Hello! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! We are almost done shopping…but still not one gift wrapped. We LOVE the thrill of last minute. I guess. :)
Tis the season for FUN stuff – I don’t know about you, but I’m a total and complete sucker for anything Christmas-themed or related. If it has snowflakes, I’m hooked. Peppermint swirls, forgetaboutit. Glitter? Gah. I give up.
It’s the one time of the year I give into the stuff – because I have NO self control. And yes, I know STUFF has zero to do with the real meaning of the season, so it’s important to keep it in check.
But I love it, and it’s my blog, so I’m going to share some of my very favorites of this season with YOU. Or more specifically, I’m going to GIVE some of my favorites to one of you. :)
It’s my way of saying Merry Christmas, thank you, I don’t know what I’d do without you, paying it forward, smooches…all that.
So let’s get on to the good stuff, shall we?
If you saw my dining room post, you know I’m quite enamored with Walmart’s ornaments this year. I can’t stand it, they are so stinking cute. So I picked up a couple of the pretty trees:
Glittery goodness!
Pretty much every single night this time of year, I enjoy a big, fat mug of hot chocolate. So I got a (cute!) big, fat mug for you to enjoy some hot chocolate as well:
And while I was at it, I remember that I’m a bit obsessed with the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks. If you have not had it, please, I beg of you…GO NOW. Or as soon as humanly possible. Starbucks is not paying me to say this, but I wish they were.
OH my. It’s so stinkin’ good. So I got a $5 gift card so you can enjoy one and a half of your own Salted Caramel Hot Chocolates:
And then I remembered another hot chocolate I love, and that’s when I add a candy cane Hershey’s kiss to it and let it melt inside. Uhhh…YUM. I told you about these kisses here and I still love them now. And I’m not even a peppermint kind of girl really – but they are YUM:
This has turned into a hot chocolate post. Moving on…
The folks at Waverly sent me some of their beeeeautiful new holiday party-ware to try out. They have some really pretty plates, napkins and even cups, and I’m IN LOVE with all of it:
We haven’t hosted any holiday parties this year, so I’m going have hubby pry them out of my hands and so I can give them to you. Yes, I know it may be a bit late for you to use them this season too, but maybe next year? Honestly, I kind of think they could be used any time of the year – aren’t they beautiful?
And finally, my very favorite part. I know this one won’t be a big deal to some of you, but I LOVE THIS THING. I found a gift wrap storage thingamabob at True Value a couple of weeks ago:
And for all that is good…I finally found something that WORKS. For years I’ve had a few rolls in a long, thin storage bin, but it’s too short to hold most of our wrapping. Then last year I got one of those storage jobbies that stands up, but the wrapping was still too long.
I swear to you, I even considered taking my miter saw to them, to make them fit. I kid you not.
But they don’t have to be sacrificed now! This thing is the BOMB. It’s long enough, and holds a bunch of rolls. And instead of the wrapping rolling off our tower of Christmas bins every. time. I walk by – now they are all contained, and that makes me SO happy!
So I went back and got one for you too, because I can’t be the only one with this problem. Am I? Crickets.
It really is the little things. Candy cane kisses and a tall gift wrap tube, and I’m a happy Chick. :)
Soooo, I’m giving all of these goodies away to one of you! I wish I could give something to every single one of you, I really, really do. I just hope you know how much I’ve appreciated your sweet comments, emails and support throughout this year.
To enter, leave a comment here. Tell us your favorite part/thing/food of the season. I’ll only have this giveaway open through Monday at midnight, so I can get this all mailed off to the lucky one on Tuesday.
For now, I’m off to write 75 Christmas cards:
I’m just hoping everyone gets them before Christmas. :)
Have a wonderful Monday!!

You have no idea (ok, maybe you do from your post) how teed off I was when i finally bought a wrapping paper storage thingy and it was too short. Seriously! It's like it's designed to only fit those tiny rolls you can buy at walmart, you know, the ones that only hold enough to wrap one present? If that's all I'm buying, why would I need a holder for it!
ReplyDeleteGrr.
ANYWAY. My favorite part is the lights. We started a tradition of driving around and looking at lights on Christmas eve. everything just looks so welcoming and cheery!
How do I pick just ONE favorite thing for this time of year? Our church's Christmas Eve service is at the top tho. Sets the stage really well for waking up the next morning. Love your blog and ideas, hope I win these fun treats!!!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Christmas is picking out just the perfect ornament for our kids for our tree. Each year we search for a unique ornament to symbolize what they like. It's amazing to take them out in November and talk about who's ornament it is, when we added to the tree, and why. Currently we are waiting for our second miracle to join our family through the beautiful adoption process and we've added an ornament for him/her for the past 2 years. We hope and pray that next year this time he/she will be home with us for the holiday season!!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be awesome! This past year some of my favorite wrapping paper was ruined because of lack of a good storage solution. :(

The downtown Christmas lighting. It's at the old historical courthouse and they block off the streets and there are kids singing on the steps with intervals of the Real Christmas story. At the end they light everything up. It's magical every year.
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY understand your wrapping paper storage issues. I bought what looked like the _perfect_ storage from Avon and it was way too short! I literally did cut my rolls of wrapping paper down by about 6 inches. Now when I buy wrapping paper I look at it and wonder if it's too dang long! Oh and those Hershey's kisses are a staple around my house. I pour them into a short, glass vase so they act as decor as well. (I do that all year. Thank you M&Ms and Kisses!)

My favorite part of the season is watching Christmas unfold through the eyes of a child. My kids are almost grown, but I have several new nieces and nephews. I love to watch them as they count down the number of sleeps until Santa comes.
ReplyDeleteOh, yum, hot chocolate. One of my new favorite (and MUST have for those with fake Christmas trees) things is the fresh balsam scented candles at Bath and Body Works. They seriously smell like the real deal! And another must have - Southern Comfort egg nog. Oh yummity sweet goodness.....
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for showing the gift wrap tube - I will have to keep an eye out for that! My favorite holiday food is divinity. It's not really Christmas until I make a batch :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the season is watching my son & husband's faces light up as they open their gifts on Christmas morning. I'm so thankful and blessed by God to be alive to be able to witness this.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the season is getting to spend time with my family. I am a teacher so I always have the time off from Christmas Eve until January 2nd and I spend time with my kids and catch up with family I don't get to see often. Oh and the all the awesome food doesn't hurt! :)

My favorite part of the season (besides EVERYTHING!) is the wintery wonderland town that my family trots off to for a few days around Christmas. It has everything I love about the season (snow, christmas lights, music, laughing children).

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas thing. . . I can't narrow it down. Hot chocolate, Christmas trees, having Santa to "make" my kids behave, seeing how excited my children get about Christmas. . . I could go on and on! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is to make and eat ollibollen and croquettes. It's a dutch Christmas and New years tradition. Hugs, Nellie.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the season is watching my children get excited about seeing their breath outside on the first chilly day...really, just being with my girls no matter the season makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite "things" (not the virtues and meanings of the holiday, but the actual material goods) are: 1) my big fat Santa ornament on the tree; 2) the awesome crystal icicle ornaments which always make the tree look classy and elegant and sparkly; and 3) I finally got a pickle ornament! Love that tradition. For those of you who don't know, its a German thing; you put the pickle ornament on the tree last (while no one is looking, and right before the presents are opened) and whomever finds the pickle ornament gets an extra gift. It encourages children (or adults too, I suppose) to really look at and enjoy the tree and its ornaments instead of just tearing into the presents.
ReplyDeleteI love, Love, LOVE all the eating, especially those Candy Cane Kisses you included on here--one of my faves! Which probably explains the extra pounds...

ReplyDeleteFor the past several years my husband and I have given gifts to a family (some times two families) in need...as pointed out to us through our pastor. The Lord has blessed us and we try to pass on what we can to others.
