It's something I deal with every year. I'll never have a completely decluttered home, at least not till the kiddo is out of the house. :) It's a process I go through every year and I actually quite enjoy it. Thrifty Decor Chickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08387609050626968143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-51214291360899509942013-08-19T09:43:00.252-04:002013-08-19T09:43:00.252-04:00Wow that made a huge difference! I definitely did ...Wow that made a huge difference! I definitely did some de-cluttering this weekend too but if you just looked around you wouldn't see it what I did... I scored a hutch on Craigslist for my kitchen so I organized my kitchen drawers. I feel SO much better about myself after doing that - ha! Without the hutch we only have two drawers in the kitchen so I bet you can imagine how cluttered they were. Well, the hutch gave me two extra drawers so I could finally sort out the things that I used most often between the things I still wanted out, but didn't need right at my fingertips. I also cleaned out/organized our laundry room.
On to closets - both of my guest room closets have that "dead space" on the sides of the closet and putting shelves in there is such a great idea! I have been thinking about doing it for a really long time now. I just haven't gotten around to actually doing it... We are expecting our first little one so putting shelves in the nursery closet will give me TONS of much needed storage space. Anyway, great job on your closet! =]

Runt
runtspickins@yahoo.com
www.runtspickins.wordpress.com

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-2676773626678622372013-08-18T18:29:56.558-04:002013-08-18T18:29:56.558-04:00Looks like you are still suffering from the "...Looks like you are still suffering from the "too much stuff" syndrome. This year, when we moved, I got rid of EVERYTHING we didn't want, use or need. We only have enough bedding for beds in the house, dishes for immediate family and a few extra for when guests come. I got rid of all the excess crap for holidays (because who needs to change their decor every other week, seriously), etc. What I ended up is in my new home with a feeling of organization, and peace. No more clutter, not even one "junk drawer" (most of my drawers are empty). And I've gotten MANY wonderful comments about the feeling in my house since. And they are right, it feels so good to not have to spend my weekends de-crapifying all the time (then just to bring in more junk...what a waste of time, money and space). But that's just my experience.Krishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06372904383979683415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-58216918839719406302013-08-18T11:13:27.999-04:002013-08-18T11:13:27.999-04:00His bed is too low and I have a plan for the space...His bed is too low and I have a plan for the space under ours. :) Until recently our bed was taller so you could see right under it -- we didn't store anything underneath there because of that. When the kids lived at home, they knew their suitcase was under their bed so when it came time to pack they had easy access to it.
We have those wire shelves, too, and I don't like them. But I took my square wicker baskets and turned them on their sides rather than using them in the traditional way. This way I have created an additional "shelf" above for lightweight items and dividers between my folded sweaters, purses and other items.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-6876452050203650792013-08-16T17:58:19.763-04:002013-08-16T17:58:19.763-04:00Oooh, I really hate how most closets are built. Y...Oooh, I really hate how most closets are built. You are so right about so much wasted space. We have a master closet that is the size of a small bedroom, but after living here for 2 years we still haven't come up with a good workable plan -- getting closer, though! I'm truly amazed at all the stuff you had in that closet -- wow, girl, you had some major stuffing power going on. I have resorted to those space bags that you fill up and then use your vacuum cleaner to suck all the air out. They really do work and I store a lot of pillows and extra bedding under our captain's bed that way.An Oasis in the Deserthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03775583025686145582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-51311875974417703692013-08-16T17:15:32.158-04:002013-08-16T17:15:32.158-04:00Nice job!
