I have a tiny blog but I like to think people would notice me disappearing online. I think it is the time, or not hitting goals they've set. I assume bloggers all have moments of "why am I doing this" or "does anyone even care". However, I am a Chronically ill ...I agree with you. However, I am a Chronically ill Blogger (and a Rarity these days, I post Live) who has been down more than up lately. I am at http://masqueradingcrafter.blogspot.com. Yes, sometimes my physical pain has kept me from posting for months at all. Then there was the time I was without the net for a full year. I tried to keep it up, but it just got too tiring to lug the laptop that was on it's last leg up to the Clubhouse in the complex where I live just so I could connect to a crappy connection that was down more than up.

My favorite tool is Pinterest as I can make tons of pins (like when I am bedridden) and link them to FB and Twitter at the same time. Saves alot of time.

As a general rule, I hide from FB as there is too much griping about life and everything else in the world. As well as being friended by people I have never even heard of just to click the invite only to be taken to a nude picture. No Thank You !

At the time my blog was created I was just starting to learn how to blog when I learned too late to create a business email account for my blog. Which sadly, I just learned last week on Pinterest. However, in the process of getting aggravated with Google's blogging platform (for free version), I have decided to move my blog over to Weebly with the first tier paid version which is a platform that is already Mobile ready.

Also, when I started my blog I had had a tragic traumatic experience happen in my biological family and I had sunk into a deep Depression. So most of my posts are and were negative and therefore noone would really stay with me as it was too horrible and noone knew what to say. But to be honest with you, I battle daily with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Clinical Depression (Major Depressive Disorder), PTSD, Bipolar, The Depression from being in physical pain 24/7/365 with no easing, only flareups. And I may be getting diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's Disease. Which has me scared to death. I want to live my Dreams just like everyone else but life is against me from the start. I am nearly crippled from bone pain from Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, A rare subtype of Migraines called Hemiplegic Migraine, and a Rare Heart condition called Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia along with Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction (ie. the beginning of Heart Failure). I am Disabled. I am dirt poor and on food stamps. However, I try to trade my ashes in for beauty by doing what I can do with what I have and to create beauty as I see it.

To me blogging is still the Online Journal it was originally created for. To share things I have made, things I am grateful for, my rants,or things I just think are awesome. I use Blogging and Pinteresting as a Distraction from my physical pain and it does lift my spirits, especially when I find a person like you through Pinterest.

I just want to thank you for all the hard work you have done in creating this blog. Which is lovely by the way,

Take care and have a great week!

Kindest Regards,
Karen M. Roth
a.k.a. I got off to an 18 post start and then moved into the house I was dreaming of decorating and got busy "Doing" and not blogging. Your post encouraged me to go back to what I started and give it another try. I read your blog daily and am so inspired by your dedication and projects. Thanks for this post and maybe one day I'll be as deep into this as you are! http://country2coastal.blogspot.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16827609393058272625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-37485059008169047062015-01-23T20:16:16.582-05:002015-01-23T20:16:16.582-05:00I've been blogging now for about 5 years, but ...I've been blogging now for about 5 years, but there have been a number of times that I wanted to quit. I work in retail, and I never have a "set" schedule so I'm not able to devote a ton of time to blogging which I know is a must to be successful. Plus I'm on a very limited budget, I don't own a fancy camera, I live in an apartment, and I feel it's just way too competitive to "be noticed". Also I hardly get any comments (I think they're on) which really saddens me, and can be disheartened. However I still post the projects I do, but I do utilize IG quite more often. I'd like to become more successful with my blog so I'll keep it going! You're a big inspiration to me, and am thoroughly glad you're not leaving anytime soon! :)

http://prudentstylebyally.blogspot.comAlly Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00551069767448978804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-61376792939311991392015-01-23T12:02:38.097-05:002015-01-23T12:02:38.097-05:00This is a great discussion! I am a blog-reader/lover who does not have their own blog, and also rarely comments, even on the blogs I adore (like this one! so glad you'll be blogging until you are 80 Sarah!!!). Here are the top reasons why I don't comment, even when I love a post:
1) I'm reading from my phone and commenting from it is a complete PAIN. (This may just be me, but it always takes me sooooo much longer to type a comment in my phone, and half the time when I do write something, I want to go back and edit what I said before I post, and then in my attempt to edit I accidentally delete the comment, and ughhh...I just give up).
2) I am reading a few days or weeks after the post went up and am honestly not sure whether the blogger will still see my comment. I am commenting over a week after this was posted - will you even see it? Do you get some sort of notification? Since I don't have my own blog, I honestly don't know.
3) I'm worried I will look like a stalker. I know that Bloggers always say they love comments, but I get weirdly insecure sometimes about commenting because I have so much respect for thier talent.

So all of that is to hopefully give some of the blogging commenters reassurance that people viewing your site means that we like the content! I know you want the interaction, but hopefully this helps you know that those of us who read but don't comment do find you relevant and fabulous!

I have also noticed that a lot of the blogs I read have closed up shop in the past year (both DIY/home blogs and personal blogs). Sarah, you have written posts about how to be succesful in bloggin and you always say that you should blog because you LOVE it, not because you want to make money off it. I completely agree and while I know comments and pageviews and accolades certainly motivate someone to want to keep their blog going I think there needs to be a part of you that would want to blog just for yourself, in order to keep the motivation long term as well as the ability to maintain an authentic voice should your blog become successful/profitable. Sarah, you definitely seem to have done this successfully.

Now I'm off to comment on all of my favorite blogs so they know how much I love them and don't quit on me! :-)Carrienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-32273078680855559762015-01-23T08:01:22.861-05:002015-01-23T08:01:22.861-05:00Hello there. I just began my blog a few weeks ago. I have been adding past projects on there for now (no before pics unfortunately). I have a LOT of work to do and lots of projects to add but I really do love the experience so far. For me it's not about how many people see my blog but about giving myself a place where I can catalog my projects. If I create a following, that will be great, but for now I'm perfectly happy just keeping it as a diary of sorts. I started my blog a little over two years ago, knowing practically nothing about it. And the more I learn, the more time consuming it becomes to make my blog what I want it to be. But you know what? I love every minute of it! I was heartbroken when my very favorite blog (YHL) just called it quits so abruptly. I still go to that blog every once in a while and grieve the loss. Although I wish them well, I don't get it. I've never posted a lot, but it's been a little over five years, so I kind of get the idea.

On the other side of the looking glass - I am an avid blog reader, and there are many that I read every day or nearly so. And I'm still looking for more - there is room in my attention span for more great content, which mostly means good writing IMHO. But I notice there are bloggers who are quite conscious of the issue of how many comments they get (and will actually address the topic explicitly) - but I never ever see them comment on anyone else's blog (and I'm certain they've never even clicked on mine). Granted, I'm not in the big time blog-wise; maybe until I get 1000 followers (will never happen) I don't deserve any more recognition than as a statistic in the comments tally. Or, do I? After all, no one here knows who I am in real life. I could be a senator. A movie star. I could be wealthy, or famous, or brilliant, or heroically virtuous, or have amazing taste. Any of us could. I don't ignore people at parties because they have unenviable jobs or aren't as clever as I am. So I am fascinated that this sort of thing is so common in Web 2.0. I have a family blog (MomofMany.com) that I used mostly as a big family/ministry blog that I don't post on often because of trying to get my Love My DIY Home blog off the ground. Eventually I'll get back to it but for now LMDH takes all my time. Right now I've just finished a series on dealing with loss (Mom just passed away) but mostly I blog about DIY projects for the home while throwing in here and there other DIY type things like the series I just finished that has nothing to do with home decor.

My passion is helping others DIY to save money and enjoy the artsy side of the DIY world. I'd love for you to come for a visit (LoveMyDIY Home.com) - Please let me know you were by. I enjoy your blog and am glad you will be around for a while! There are a bazillion blogs in our niche but I don't care - I'm not concerned with competition, only sharing with others and finding out what others are doing. Your blog was the first one I ever read - I had no idea what they were before. Through your blog I was introduced to so many other great blogs. I was so inspired by all I read!! It had been years since I had allowed myself to be creative. Making up all kinds of excuses - too busy, too broke, not good enough, etc. But, you made it look so fun, and you showed me I didn't have to spend a lot!! A couple years later I started my own blog, and I love it!! It is the motivation I need to keep creating! I do things at my own pace, and follow very few 'rules' with my blog. But, it's fun for me, and hopefully inspires a few people along the way! Thanks for what you do here Sarah and I would love to have you stop by :) http://frazzledjoy.blogspot.com/Denise Greenwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02894364373658984522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-18799686967286951292015-01-20T10:07:14.072-05:002015-01-20T10:07:14.072-05:00I always hate it when I blog I love stops posting ...I always hate it when I blog I love stops posting - or worse, takes down the blog. One blogger I followed took down her blog. Then, a year or so later, she started a new one. Then she took that one down, too. I just don't get removing the whole free blogspot blog from the internet. I kind of gave up on her after the second time because it's so heartbreaking to just have someone disappear like that. No goodbye - nothing.

I have had a blog for 9 years, but it's not some huge blog. I started it to keep my travel journal somewhere, then was asked to do a few giveaways, then started three or 4 more blogs and went kind of crazy. Now I just have one blog and I blog when I feel like it about whatever strikes my fancy. I really loved blogging about our house as it was being built. I got a lot of help from other bloggers who had gone before me. I hope it helps lots of others who are still building.

I decided my blog is for me and my family. I wish the whole world would find it and decide It's fabulous, leave lots of supportive, witty comments, and make me an internet sensation. Sigh. It's probably not going to happen with a few suck/rock posts scattered throughout my house building experience and stories of places I go and things I see and people I find wonderful. I use it to celebrate, share, (like my inability to cut triangles) and even mourn.

My daughter is getting married (oh my gosh I it feels so other-worldly to say this) this year so I will be doing lots of wedding stuff. No idea if any of that will make it to the blog or not. Might be nothing, might be a ton.

Here it is, ready or not: http://www.velezita.comTammigirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04000047709047394034noreply@blogger.com
