I think I'm the only one that uses the coat closet, come to think of it. I need to spend some time analyzing that. Anyway, Love and enjoy reading your blog.

I tend to overcomplicate my life with visions of grandeur on a part-time wager earner's salary. Recently, I was aggravated about keeping all the shopping bags in the trunk of my car. (As your kids grow older, you tend to have a trunk full of dusty, dirty sports bags and other sweaty sports things.) Anyway, after a recent incident with a flat tire which I needed to have repaired which also had to go into the trunk, I realized the trunk was not the best place for my grocery shopping bags.

The problem was if I didn't put them back into the trunk right away, I would forget them when I went grocery shopping. I thought and thought, and was about to purchase a few hooks for the backseat headrest (we have a van), when I realized I never knew we had headrests back there.

I pulled out my TJ Maxxista bag (huge, btw) and all the other bags fit inside and its handles went over the headrest perfectly. The opening of the bag is large enough that I really don't even need to remove the handles from the headrest to reach in and out of it. Yay! No money spent and no more dirty grocery bags because it hangs from the headrest away from it all.Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14543854123228242554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-25074473229916562102013-03-18T08:52:53.356-04:002013-03-18T08:52:53.356-04:00I put a shoe organizer (the clear pocket type) on ...I put a shoe organizer (the clear pocket type) on the back of our closet door. Found a cute decorative knob thing. (It's an old doorknob mounted on a decorative framelike thing) It's hanging on a small wall right by our door from the garage. It was a HUGE duh moment, like why did i not think of this before??? my daughter's coat and backpack actually end up on that hook at least 95% of the time. I feel like I can't really ask for better than that.

I just recently used a command strip hook on the wall right next to our piano to hang the little tote that my daughter uses to carry her music back and forth to lessons. We let that thing float all over the house and drive me crazy for at least 6 months before it finally hit me that a hook by the piano might make sense.... duh.ikylilcrafterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00880895833823827526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7781670590071996754.post-18337037663030506132013-03-14T17:55:59.647-04:002013-03-14T17:55:59.647-04:00In our new house we have a mudroom. It is the perfect temporary place to hang the coats. Some are higher for the taller people, some are lower for the shorter people. But everyone has a spot. Still, the jackets ended up on the ground. The boots were scattered here and there. So I took all the jackets and boots and everything else I told them a million times to clean up and tossed them far outside, in the snow. I loved it because I could remain emotionally detached and didn't get upset in the least! They hated it. They had to go get them, put them on cold. They now remember to put their things away. End of story. Really helps but it didn't have a good place for backpacks. So beside the door, I added a low hook that is made for holding plants in the garden. Nice and sturdy and I can easily hang two or more backpacks on it because it is so big - yet it curves up so it is safe.
