<h2>How to paint furniture the easy way...no sanding needed! </h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You do <i>not </i>have to sand furniture before painting. If your piece is
in good condition, this method will save you a ton of time and mess.
</div>
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZCd5d8UxxUS3ep23ldVRbVwDjV0JtN3_1sDHaGMZ42ybC0EtSvV4tngfQor5ytxGa7eD2MoqqxAfgAqvE2TmnJnPhuZ1yKb7ttvOt4irGB7ZOn-A8GWSW815g0Z45a3ObsWu6VLhWAA4lcX5_VW_DFtvKTSnkxzYgGzHwPGJhT_Jitbr1yUqKU5nMEb4/s16000-rw/jasper%20green%20painted%20dresser.jpg" style="display:none;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the past few weeks, I've been working on a makeover in our bedroom that
has completely transformed the space! I can't wait to show you the whole
room.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last big project in here was painting this dresser, and it turned out so
beautifully!
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've had this lovely vintage Henredon dresser for years. I love the quality
(dovetail drawers!), pretty trim details on the fronts and the ornate brass
hardware.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The finish has never been my favorite though...it had an orange tone to it
that seemed to get more orange with time. Also, it had an odd splatter kind
of finish that I didn't love:

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've toyed around with painting it for a long time, but didn't want to
rush into a color.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But I finally made a decision! I shared how I

on the walls in our room a few weeks ago. The bright white on the walls
has made such a difference!
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've painted a TON of cabinets and furniture over the years, and have
tried many ways along the way.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Typically, sanding or priming are options to prep furniture for paint, but
I have found that cleaning the pieces well before painting is the most
important.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<blockquote>
Cleaning furniture thoroughly works as well as sanding before painting
in many instances.
</blockquote>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My favorite product for doing this is TSP, or trisodium phosphate.
This product, also known as liquid sandpaper, is what I've used for
years. But phosphate free options are now available. (Phosphate is not
good for the environment and can be very irritating to skin.)

<div style="text-align: left;">
Add character to your walls with this beautiful DIY vertical tongue and groove
detail!
</div>
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-euhcOIbz8vmo2pS8gmoGRJ4DolG-KaOVaeo0vLPf31xJotrtF8KMabuiKGxMwx-Qctxcl92BuUDMR38BuItjRyx1xEE7qFyECWjzfoiPBxbcFPnqwcUC5GQdAlkwUOn5RSpX7AclLRzMUtDBfYNRAMYyHWylAffIamdtuDFLhjC8koltVD0IGOuRa4A/s1334/shiplap%20and%20window%20trim.jpg" style="display:none;">
<div style="text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As much as we've loved the darker, cozy feel of our bedroom, the colors I used
when I first decorated it years ago have really restricted the accents I could
use:
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a

</div>
<div><br></div>
For the past year or so it has really bugged me -- I learned a while ago that
not a lot of colors complement a dark gray.
<div><br></div>
<div>
I like to add seasonal touches like warmer, richer colors for fall. Or pops of
red for the holidays. But nothing ever meshed well with the dark gray
tones.
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
I LOVE this dark <a
href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/search/label/basement"
>Westchester Gray in our moody basement</a
>, but it was feeling heavy in our bedroom. <br>
<div><br></div>
<div>
So. I had a plan for a little DIY makeover, and I finally got to work on it
last week. It involved vertical tongue and groove molding that I could
incorporate into the existing chair rail that I installed years ago.
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
Because I was adding new trim to the walls that was going from the floor up
to the chair rail, I needed to remove the baseboards all around the room:

It's not always necessary to remove the baseboards when adding trim work

You'll see why this particular trim accent looks better with thicker
baseboards in a bit!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tongue and groove is the technical term for shiplap or planked walls. I've
done <b>a lot</b> of projects with this look over the years and the
<a

than the one I chose this time.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This time I decided to use actual tongue and groove planks from Lowe's. I
thought it was going to be way more expensive than it was -- but because
this was only going to go up about a third of the wall, it wasn't
too bad.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">There are a few ways to add your own lighting above and below your kitchen cabinets, and I'm sharing two of the easiest options here. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This DIY project adds so much warmth and interest to a kitchen, but it also functions well because it creates great task lighting at night:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The first time I tackled this project, I used the <a href="http://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2010/10/mood-lighting-in-kitchen.html">outlets from our hanging microwave and behind the refrigerator to add plug in cabinet lighting</a>. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The lights and rope lights I shared years ago have a warmer glow, but it's a lot harder to find those specific incandescent strips now. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Incredibly easy! This <a href="https://amzn.to/3uozhFt" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Govee strip lighting</a> is what I used for the lights under these cabinets. With the open floor plans and two-story rooms in newer houses, they are so much more common.<br><div><br></div><div>Now, I will say...sometimes I find it best to <i>ignore</i> a big wall, at least when it comes to two story, taller walls. </div><div><br></div><div>The super high walls in our old house bugged me for years, and at first I went high with the art. I quickly learned they don't need to be accentuated...it's obvious it's a <b>big</b> wall. ;) So I started bringing things back to people level and it felt SO much better.</div><div><br></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><blockquote>Sometimes we bring more attention to overwhelmingly large walls by adding art. </blockquote></div>
<br>
BUT, there are many spaces with expansive walls that you just know need <i>something</i>. It's difficult to tread that line of getting too busy or not doing enough.<br>
<br>
I'm sharing a few of my favorite ways to fill those biggies first, then keep reading for examples from a bunch of talented bloggers.</div><div><br></div><div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Board and batten trim</h3>
<br>
First up -- in our foyer I added some very simple trim to <a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2018/06/fresh-update-for-15-in-foyer.html" target="">give the wall a board and batten look</a> (and only spent $15!):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSPFZaTQzqSlsGp7Tl9F6MO1Un4Udt2e0eHi-ytAWoA_EruWDW4ing5UvEqwpNrZ1aakqUnkxfT1aqlChC2-L01Zo4TqQNzwmI80loD_pC3z3xgY1U2n449xWzcUODyEYixANSBY2u0ff5Lx8rgmk8rVJbN-FxMfnmXJpK9mGwysc1dJRQ1VImRKOL_J8/s3956/foyer%20modern%20trim%20walls.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="simple board and batten wall" border="0" data-original-height="3956" data-original-width="2967" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSPFZaTQzqSlsGp7Tl9F6MO1Un4Udt2e0eHi-ytAWoA_EruWDW4ing5UvEqwpNrZ1aakqUnkxfT1aqlChC2-L01Zo4TqQNzwmI80loD_pC3z3xgY1U2n449xWzcUODyEYixANSBY2u0ff5Lx8rgmk8rVJbN-FxMfnmXJpK9mGwysc1dJRQ1VImRKOL_J8/s16000/foyer%20modern%20trim%20walls.jpg"></a></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You'll be surprised at what that little bit of dimension does for a space. Even without any art, trim on the walls makes a big difference. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I added a <a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2020/01/finished-board-and-batten-accent.html">simple board and batten treatment</a> to a small wall under our stairs as well: <span></span></div></div></div><a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2019/03/affordable-diy-ideas-for-filling-big.html#more">Read the full post</a><div class="blogger-post-footer">This content is property of Thrifty Decor Chick LLC. Looking for an easy and delicious cookie to make for the holidays? I'm a
traditionalist at heart -- the tried and true cookies are my favorite. </p><p>My
sister passed on her favorite snickerdoodle recipe to me years ago. It’s a
quick and easy one and I usually have everything on hand to make it.
</p>
<p>
If you can’t tell by now, quick prep and easy ingredients are my staples when
it comes to cooking and baking. I don’t share many recipes on the blog but
when I do you know it’s good and easy to make!
</p>
<p>
These snickerdoodle cookies are perfect for the holiday season, but I wouldn't say no to these any
time of the year!:
</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCimfiLo_fjo067RhmrKG6Y0XXOGU3f8DwCus8SThBnisCrOpMiBeRbTv1A1JNV1-XF6NKIjhB1jS_CNpdharNQb5-oW3hESuahiVx9MXzI2QG-3UkixlAcYxhb9TcOIj8PmfDbdiJNM4/s2048/best+Christmas+cookie+recipe.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="snickerdoodle cookies on plate" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1509" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCimfiLo_fjo067RhmrKG6Y0XXOGU3f8DwCus8SThBnisCrOpMiBeRbTv1A1JNV1-XF6NKIjhB1jS_CNpdharNQb5-oW3hESuahiVx9MXzI2QG-3UkixlAcYxhb9TcOIj8PmfDbdiJNM4/s16000/best+Christmas+cookie+recipe.jpgimgmax=1600" title="the perfect Christmas cookie recipe" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
YUM! Here's what you'll need to make these snickerdoodle treats:
</div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Easy snickerdoodle cookies </span></h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">1/2 c. butter, softened</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">1/2 c. shortening</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">1 1/2 c. white sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">2 eggs (room temp)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">2 teaspoons vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">2 teaspoons cream of tartar </div>
<span style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;">
(see below if you don't have tartar handy!)
</div></span><span style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;">1 teaspoon baking soda </div></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">1/4 teaspoon salt </div>
</div>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<strong><span style="font-size: large;">For the topping</span></strong></p>
<p></p>
<p align="center">
2 tablespoons white sugar <br />2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
</p>
<p>
I used my mixer for this recipe but I hear you’ll get an even fluffier cookie
mixing by hand. I was doing this quick so didn’t want to mess with that. They still came out plenty fluffy. :)
</p>
<p>Before you start, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. </p>
<p>
Cream together the butter, shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Then blend in
the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
</p>
<p>The dough will be thick but easy to work with:</p>
<p>
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-54V0rKFyf_s/VIm0t546cDI/AAAAAAAAtcQ/Rsu0gVxLvsA/s1600-h/IMG_0928%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><font color="#4c4c4c"></font><img alt="snickerdoodle cookie mix" border="0" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y15dhrFPk6U/VIm0u7Sk8TI/AAAAAAAAtcY/uLNYCRXpKD0/s16000/IMG_0928_thumb.jpg?imgmax=1600" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="snickerdoodle cookie mix" /></a>
</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div><i>This post may contain affiliate links for your convenience.</i></div><div><i>I may earn a small commission when </i><i>you make a purchase through links. </i></div><div><i>See my <a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/p/blog-policies.html">policies and disclosure page</a> for more information.</i><i> </i> </div></div>
<p style="text-align: center;"></p><blockquote>
Did you know if you don’t have cream of tartar, you can substitute two
teaspoons of lemon juice or vinegar for one teaspoon of the tartar? </blockquote><p></p><p>Good to
know!
</p>
<p>
After mixed well, shape them into balls and them roll them in the cinnamon
sugar topping:
</p>
<p>
<img alt="snickerdoodle cookie balls" border="0" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-DRmLrLrJMnc/VIm0venDB7I/AAAAAAAAtcg/TX-gnVbW3_s/s16000/IMG_0927_thumb.jpgimgmax=1600" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="snickerdoodle cookies" />
</p>
<p>
Pop them in the oven for eight to ten minutes and that’s it! </p><p>I did eight
minutes on the dot for each batch and then immediately put them on another
tray to cool. (These
<a href="https://amzn.to/3GRuoYq" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">round cooling trays</a>
are awesome!) The cookies came out PERFECT.
</p>
<p>
The recipe says this makes 48 cookies but I made mine bigger so I ended up
with about 30. We now have 26 left. Oops.

<p>
I think snickerdoodles are the perfect Christmas cookie! The first time I
tried this recipe I was surprised with how easy they were to make. Maybe
baking isn’t that hard? ;)

<p>I may have had one for breakfast:</p>

<h3 style="text-align: left;">1. For the wine lover:</h3>
<div style="text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We are big fans of red wine, and have found some awesome wine-related products
over the years that we use quite often.
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;"><br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've talked about this

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This stuff is <b>literal magic</b>. We had a wine spill recently and all we
have to do is soak the red stain with this spray and it <i>disappears</i>. No
scrubbing. It's gone!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div>

I gifted that spray and these

pouring so much easier and cleaner. They are reusable and you get a TON so
they are easy to break up into multiple gifts.

Five tips for creating a beautiful Christmas tree.
</h2>
<div><br></div>
<div>
These decorating tips will make this year's Christmas tree the most gorgeous
yet! Some make the tree decorating process a little easier and <i>all</i> will
make it look amazing!
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCbRmxeyQ4240YLZHxBxss5x8n5vzwS6CPoRwNT4IpJhO2Ynf02RtcocUOpeWrr191Mkj0BkNankZV2lGVUIv1kkqVQL1uyqwUqAXCxJZJJY2JjYgKurj_IJglEHXc8pd_pg6toEe9Z5xM2MfP0RTMX_odR7hwHq-EkfyBoG3cR6SQpBjQtDbW7vMxIlE/s16000-rw/classic%20christmas%20tree%20decor.jpg" style="display: none;">
After all these years of assembling and decorating many (many!) trees, I've
learned a few tricks! I'm breaking them down so you can put them to use this
holiday season.
</div>
<div><br></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">1. FLUFF it. </h3>
<div>
If you decorate a fake Christmas tree, you <i>must</i> take a little extra
time to fluff the branches. This makes all the difference, it's so worth the
time!
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
Our old basement tree basically snapped in half (more on that later), so we
were looking for a new one this year. We lucked out when we found the "viral"
Grand Duchess Christmas tree at Home Depot. Since we got it I think I've seen
it 862 times on Instagram. ;)
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
It is really, <i>really</i> beautiful. It has a remote with settings for the
Christmas tree lights -- the twinkling lights are my favorite!
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
I kept seeing everyone say that it doesn't need to be fluffed, and I will say
I was impressed at how full it was right out of the box:
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3SgOnbpqJbzpLRERUrvFBrNFR-JhcRtqZyPQfLuTrZne4LQRzkYktDp33h-qm1gTp-DJpnju3Hxy0URZN9vYjWW6jFfcxk3KkNBM_XJftsM2kddtse-tnou55hJLaXh_SM8E9qpzbreuevGHDd8ERbTFy3vFbUxsdVpYpa7C2GvdJlswI_4b04lomUxM/s1333/viral%20Home%20Depot%20tree.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="tree in brass tree collar" border="0" data-original-height="1333" data-original-width="1000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3SgOnbpqJbzpLRERUrvFBrNFR-JhcRtqZyPQfLuTrZne4LQRzkYktDp33h-qm1gTp-DJpnju3Hxy0URZN9vYjWW6jFfcxk3KkNBM_XJftsM2kddtse-tnou55hJLaXh_SM8E9qpzbreuevGHDd8ERbTFy3vFbUxsdVpYpa7C2GvdJlswI_4b04lomUxM/s16000/viral%20Home%20Depot%20tree.jpg"></a>

How to make cute DIY cheesecloth ghosts for the Halloween season.
</h2>
<div><br></div>
This is SUCH an easy Halloween project for kids (and adults!) of all ages. I
love this cheesecloth ghosts craft!
<div><br></div>
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG6adeMPtRK3rVtAOI14vlb122K0D9tU9ZUSodotKHQkTMfcCBjI1PUb4n4ek-xtDnV4dKiWGgypR2IqgLDvYsKS6VvplA45ughJfbpyOCSmUmS2x_Xa2YQG-WpOTSqyICBFwMZ5u1e2VlWWUiY5Hfgk132A-4NhpTifpaD-1F3l0hc-L4aD7b5EiH7BI/s16000-rw/tall%20cheesecloth%20ghosts.jpg" style="display: none;">
<div>
I've made these so many times over the years and they always turn out so cute.
No two are exactly alike!
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
I warn you -- this cheesecloth project is messy, but it's a really fun and
easy Halloween craft to do with the kids! :)

This fall craft is perfect to do with kids outside.

The basic ingredients for these fabric ghosts are glue and warm water.
You'll want balloons or some other form for the ghosts and felt or a black
marker for the faces:

When we were having some electrical work done for
<a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2021/02/Huge-DIY-built-in-bookcases-basement.html">the wall of basement built ins</a> years ago, the electrician noted how many recessed lights we have in the basement -- a
ton! He recommended looking into replacing the standard can lights with an LED
version that would save a us a lot of money.
</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
He told us it was easy to change them out, so I started doing some research.
It's a quick change and you don't need <b>any</b> electrical experience! </div><div><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><blockquote>Turning off your lights at the breaker is all the electrical knowledge you'll
need.
</blockquote></div>
<div><br></div>
<div>
Even though we have plenty of light down in the basement, my photos were
usually dark. You can see how grainy the wall and ceiling are in this "before"
photo I took:

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">These beautiful fall foliage suggestions for your containers and window boxes will carry you through to Thanksgiving. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I usually wait just a tad longer to change out our window boxes and planters, but some of them were looking awful, so I decided to get started on the fall versions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our window boxes never took off like usual this year. We had a deep freeze one night late in the spring and even after covering them, they were zapped. The potato vine never did well and the petunias didn't grow much at all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I gave up on them a couple weeks ago and stopped watering because they looked so bad: </div>

The petunias filled in much better than this most of the summer, but overall it was nothing like usual. </div>

<br>
I got this recipe from a friend and I'm not sure exactly what to call it -- it's not a casserole, and not quite a soup. But it <i>leans</i> more towards a taco soup so I'm going with that. :)<br>
<br>
As I started to write down the ingredients list, I realized at least half of the items wouldn't be needed and it would still be really good. So I added a bit and removed a lot and made it even easier to make!<div><br></div><div>And I was right...it's DELICIOUS!<br>

I share this post every year because it's important to me that we have a visual reminder of this day, now more than 20 years ago. Can you even believe it? <div><br></div><div>It's crazy to me that there is a whole generation that wasn't even alive when 9/11 occurred.<br>
<br>
As many of you know, New York is near and dear to us. It's a city we love so very much. I always knew I'd love it, and when my husband took me on my first trip (just a few days before September 11, 2001) I found out I found out I was right. </div><div>
<br>
This photo always gives me chills. We're at the top of the Statue of Liberty and you can barely see the towers behind me:<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGCe-Ay3G1M8Nlhec59SqPNcEaQlDW7nx1gWbFVD8apIuyn1DCy0b7LY7Hvb8gtCsMOJy3Z1v1h_uLIS9JNimZ0FjAQnTJAYiZkgU3I8N2MdI0eX9xckLxC0r0vjfj6cDoTmFPiAl18T8/s1600/before+9%253A11.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="599" data-original-width="450" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGCe-Ay3G1M8Nlhec59SqPNcEaQlDW7nx1gWbFVD8apIuyn1DCy0b7LY7Hvb8gtCsMOJy3Z1v1h_uLIS9JNimZ0FjAQnTJAYiZkgU3I8N2MdI0eX9xckLxC0r0vjfj6cDoTmFPiAl18T8/s1600/before+9%253A11.jpg?imgmax=1600"></a></div>
<br>This was nine days before 9/11. Nine days later and the towers were gone.<br>
<br>
My husband was a band director at the time, and a few months after the attacks we were supposed to travel to Japan for a band trip. </div><div><br></div><div>He canceled that trip and instead we took the students to New York City. SO many New Yorkers stopped us numerous times and thanked the kids for visiting.<br>
<br>
These first photos are from the <a href="https://groundzeromuseumworkshop.org/" target="_blank">Ground Zero Museum</a> and tell the story of that day. This location is separate from the new museum — it used to be closer to Ground Zero but it looks like it’s moved to 14th street. If you visit the city I highly recommend visiting both. <br>
<br>
I let the photos do the talking (forgive the quality, all were taken with a phone over the years):<span></span></div><a href="https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2019/09/eighteen.html#more">Read the full post</a><div class="blogger-post-footer">This content is property of Thrifty Decor Chick LLC.
