(By the way, if you were having problems with the link to my button on the right, it should link to the Organize and Declutter post now.)
I've become a little obsessed with tags lately. I mark everything with my Dymo...I'll show you that illness later...but I've also been digging ca-ute tags lately too. A few weeks ago I made these for the laundry room:
You can't see what's in the bins, so we needed some reminding:
The other day I had an even better (cheaper) idea!
I went to Lowe's and got paint chips that matched the colors in our office/den...then made these:
I used the chips, leftover ribbon, a hole punch and spray adhesive:
I'm off to the treadmill for that one...
If you were all cute and not impatient like me, you would use rub on letters, but I just used a sharpie.
Three tags took less than five minutes!
Whooohoo!
Have a great weekend!!
What a super idea to tag all those baskets and containers. I love the paint chip idea, that is so clever. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love that idea. Where do you find all of those cute storage boxes. I am a hour away from real shopping so a heads up would really be helpful.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Terrie
Very cute! I need some organization in my laundry room!
ReplyDeleteI love your tags and the paint chip idea is terrific. I have been making tags like crazy and now obsessed with getting more punches! Never enough tags.
ReplyDeleteThis is one ~~~ HUGE ~~~ tip! thank you .... I wish I had a Perkins close to me. I have withdrawal when I remember how much I loved them ... in florida, in minnesota, and on and on.
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable and so easy. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteWow, so cute and practical!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what to do with my bins to label them! Now I know! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteYour laundry room is so beautiful! You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteJen
The paint chip idea is brilliant! I love them all!
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas!! But, I have to agree with Lorie on the paint chip idea, it was brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteWay cute! You have inspired me to maybe organize a couple rooms in my house...like, all of them!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and luuuuv this idea. I really want your shelf holders (the black scroll-y things). I've never seen anything like that in Australia - not fair!
ReplyDeleteLove the tags! Now I need a couple of big punches!
ReplyDeleteYour laundry room is more beautiful than any other I have ever known.
ReplyDeleteAnd PB Silk pie from Perkins?? My favorite!!
Very cute ideas!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried LAMINATE SAMPLES? Like for counter tops, they are usually plastic or backed with wood and already in a tag shape. I used them for all sorts of things when I was teaching.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love the paint chip idea and even the laminate samples idea the commenter above me mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI'm just like you - cheap and impatient. hahahaha In fact, I'm so cheap that I refused to buy one of those big punches when I needed one for a craft for my DS's birthday - yeah, I'm the person who still traces around a glass and cuts them out by hand. Ha!
Now that's a great idea...not only free, but very useful and so attractive. Can't wait to go get my paint samples! Thanks! Linda
ReplyDeleteGotta love that. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love these little labels, I have made a bunch to label my scrapbooks so I know what's inside from the side when they're on my shelves. For the smaller circle I used a scalloped circle punch and mounted it on a larger circle. I love how it looks. Now that I've seen yours on your bins, I think I'll make some up for my daughter's toy bins too! BTW the paint chip idea is a great one!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I will be surprised if our hardware stores don't start running out of paint samples with all the new ideas coming out for using them! Wreaths, tags, my oh my! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!!
Oh, now that's so clever, Sarah!!! Did you get the catalog I mailed you???
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Very cute idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat affordable idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip
ReplyDeleteSeriously that is the most beautiful laundry room I have ever seen in my life!
ReplyDeleteperfect! I really need to get myself a circle punch!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about going to get paint chips, but I am chicken. Chicken, I tell you!
ReplyDeleteI feel like i'm going to have to have an inane conversation with my 22 month old about the color of his room just to pull it off...
Did you put the ribbon on the boxes yourself ? What did you use to make them stay? My kids have the same boxes in their room and I would love to add a little something to them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love my label maker too. That peanut butter pie from perkins is way yummy. You made me crave some.
ReplyDeleteOkay, girl, your just too darn creative for your own good! LOL These are adorable! I love labels. Those boxes are great too! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe're starting a challange on February 9th to see how much money we can save for that week by using what we already have in our pantries, freezer, and fridge. We'll going to see how long we can go without going to the grocery store! Gulp! We would love for you to join us :)
Love those boxes, would you mind sharing with us where you purchased them from and I absolutely love the paint chips idea as well. Kudos TDC.
ReplyDeleteThey are all very cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are just beautiful and I'm all about finding organizing solutions. I just came across your pantry redo and think it's pretty spectacular. I hope to have something on my blog about my own redo in the future. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCandy
Oh. My. Gosh.
ReplyDeleteYour genius amazes me! I am off to collect paint samples!!!
Awesome ideas! I'm jealous of your Perkins pie. I don't have any Perkins within 100 miles of me! It cracks up my husband that Perkins is where I always want to eat when we're on vacations, lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks so much for sharing!

Please continue to post about organizing-- I just love all the cute ways you use these tags :)
ReplyDeletePaint chips? That's brilliant! I only have about 4,365 of them laying around in various drawers. Love it!
ReplyDeleteKimba
LOVE it...and look at that totally organized laundry room!! I am going to home depot on the way home from work. I have also heard of making a memory game for kids with colors from paint chips as well...just a thought for your little one! It was great having you at MTO last Friday. I love all your ideas and creativity.
ReplyDeleteLove the tags! I am so gonna do that. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing idea! I've seen paint chips used for making cards, but never thought of how I could use them around the house. Look out house, you're getting labeled! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow - that's the prettiest laundry room I've ever seen. It looks better than my living room does. Love the bins with tags idea!
