Heya all! How the heck are ya? Hope you had a great weekend!
Today I was feeling a little Valentine’s crafty mojo and worked on a couple SUPER quick projects.
Melissa’s cutie Scrabble art last year had me at “love”and I’ve wanted to do it since. I threw it together with a Goodwill frame, some pink paper behind the glass, and the Scrabble tiles hot glued to the top:
It would be way cauuuter with some adorable V-Day paper behind it (and maybe a nicer frame?), but I was trying to use what I had. :)
I wanted to fill the long frame, so I added the “forever” to what Melissa did. Now that I look at it, it reminds me of this book, so I may change this out after the holiday and put it in the Bub’s room somewhere. :) Maybe a navy blue frame and a white background to match his space? So fun!
This one was along the same lines, another Goodwill frame, with paper and a sparkly Target dollar spot heart glued to the front:
Simple but oh-so-precious!
I hope to put a little Valentine’s vignette together soon. (Check out Melissa’s! Adorable!) That little project will have to wait though, because I’m heading out to Nashville this week to hang with many of my bloggy friends at the Blissdom conference. I am SO excited to see the women I know and now consider friends in real life, and to meet so many new ones!
This picture tells the story of last year, words are not needed:
AnNicole, we will miss you!! Kate, when are we going line dancing? :)
Anyhoo – I decided a couple weeks ago that I wanted to share a little love and highlight some bloggers that are NOT attending Blissdom this year. I thought I’d be able to go through some of your blogs and pick projects, but because the response on Twitter and Facebook was so great I need your help.
I’d love to share some of your fantastic blogs while I’m gone!
Here’s the info:
1. Your blog must be a DIY/craft/decor blog.
2. You must be less than a year old. (Uhhh, your blog, not you.)
3. You are not attending Blissdom this year.
4. If you meet all three of those criteria, send me html of a post bragging about your blog. Maybe highlight three of your top projects?
5. Please make it a brief post and no more than three pictures. I’m going to try to get as many of these scheduled as I can, so I need them quick and easy and html ONLY.
6. If I have any issues getting your html to work, I’ll try to communicate with you to let you know, but I can’t make any promises. I have to do laundry before I leave (and that’s gonna take a while). :)
7. I’ll accept your posts starting…NOW. I’ll take them through Tuesday (January 25th) at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Anything after that won’t be used (cause I have to get to that dreaded laundry.)
8. If you send a post, I will highlight you in the order received. I will get as many scheduled as I can, but yours may not make it. If it doesn’t, I’ll keep it for a Show Her Off post in the future.
9. Send the email to thriftydecorchick (at) gmail (dot) com and put “NEWBIE” in the subject line. (Anyone else thinking of the Scrubs sitcom right now?)
Does that sound good? I want to promote some of you newer bloggers and I figured this would be a great time to do that!
And finally, I’m asking for a little love for me tomorrow (Tuesday). I was called back to do another mammogram, which I know is not unusual. They mentioned about 45 times (or so) that this would probably happen (since it was my first mammogram there is no baseline).
Even though I expected it, getting the call was still a little disheartening. I’m expecting and hoping for good news, but I would appreciate any tiny prayers you can send my way. I know there are so many out there who need prayers more than me, so thank you if you do. :)
Have a great week and stay tuned for some highlights of new(er) bloggers! Unless no one sends me posts. Then there will just be lots of crickets. Chirping.
P.S. Thank you to Daria in Pennsylvania for the extra Scrabble tiles! :)
Praying for you sweetie! Take heart and be safe travelling! I can't wait to see you! :)
ReplyDeletePrayers for you for sure. When we women get the "call back", it is always a little uneasy. I've had them on pap smears so I do understand. Try to just be patient and not dwell on it (yes easier said than done!) and know that God is in control and he will not give you more than you can endure. But once again....prayers for sure! Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteNo one needs prayers more than you. No one needs prayers less than you. We all need them, every day. And tomorrow is a day when you especially need them. I'm really proud that you would ask. And you'll have them, dear Sarah. I pray that God will hold you close as you go through this, and I pray that this additional test will be all that's needed to show just how wonderfully healthy you are.
ReplyDeleteYou really do rock, you know? I'm not much of a squealer, but I may squeal just a little bit when I see you at Blissdom. :)
I'll be thinking of you and hoping all goes well with the appt.... I'm going to have a breat needle biopsy coming up here soon and am SUUUper nervous! Wishing well travels too!
ReplyDeleteAwww man, my blog just turned 1 less than 2 weeks ago. I would so be sending you my html if it hadn't. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry you got the dreaded call back, I'm sure it's nothing but will say a prayer for you.
Have fun at blissdom! Wish I was going, maybe next year I can make it and meet you in person. You were the first blog I ever read (googled beadboard island and there you were). I couldn't stop reading your blog and it inspired me to do my own. I owe you a hug for introducing me to such a fun little world! :)
Have fun at blissdom and I hope everything will be okay on the follow up - I am sure it is just routine. Thanks so much for the opportunity - I just sent my post! :)
ReplyDeleteSarah, I really hope I get to meet you this week! I'm so stinkin' excited about Blissdom!!! See you soon. Are you going up Wednesday? Lorie (Be Different...Act Normal) and I fly in together at around 3? or 4? on Wednesday. Does anyone have big plans for Wednesday night? Line dancing you say? Does this Texas Chick need to bring some boots?

Praying for good news with the mammogram! Have fun at Blissdom!
ReplyDeleteSaying prayers for your follow-up! I hope it's nothing. Also, thank you so much for the opportunity to be featured! I sent you a Newbie e-mail. Have a fun week at Blissdom!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED that book when I was younger (and still have my copy) and now I do the exact same thing two my two week old boys :) Your Valentines crafts are very cute, I might steal some of the ideas. Also, my prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and your doctor visit - lots and lots of well wishes and hopes for absolute normalcy! I completely spelt that wrong, but I am sure you know what I mean. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think y'all were having too much fun!! I'm so looking forward to meeting you- should I be looking for you in those glasses? ;)
ReplyDeleteI will keep you in my prayers and good thoughts. I go every year to have mine done, we have a history in my family. I had a follow up and it was nothing they just needed to re check is all. I will pray that is the same for you:) Love your blog too btw!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that you must have a very full inbox. Hope you have fun in Nashville. I won't even pretend not to be envious. ;)
ReplyDeleteDarnit...I also wanted to say that I am sure your second mammogram will go just fine!!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers for you. I had to go back twice for a questionable mammogram that turned out fine. Know how you feel and am praying. Also, thanks for the Scrabble idea. Valentines Day is my b-day (the big 50 this year) and want to decorate a bit more than usual. Didn't have time to do the frame thing but just now grabbed our Scrabble game and placed words on the holders a put them around the house. Can't wait to see my families reaction. Thanks for everything and remember to rest in Him, the one that loves you and adores you so much!
ReplyDeletePraying for you. Everything will be just fine.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you. Things will go just fine. :)
ReplyDeletethinking of you today!
ReplyDeleteI know what it feels like to be called back for another mammogram and then an ultrasound. Scary, even though they assure you it's not uncommon. Praying for you but I'm sure it will be fine!
ReplyDeleteHey --'bout the mammogram...could be "dense" tissue (this is normal), or a fold in the tissue from how they were squished..(not a medical term!) or cysts, totally common in young women. You might be asked to have a sonogram also. You might try to speak with the radiologist at the time of the re - do, or at least ask the tech why. If they can't give you answers, for sure, be as sweet as pie and persistent about talking to the radiologist. Take care, good thoughts and prayers coming your way.
ReplyDeletePraying for a clear follow-up!
ReplyDeleteI'll say some prayers!
ReplyDeleteThank you so, so much for being willing to encourage us newbies :) I just sent you my email. Have fun on your trip to Blissdom!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jen
Love, prayers and blessings your way!! Hope your 2nd mammogram goes so much better.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, stay occupied. Speaking of that, I love these adorable projects. I'm traveling, so I'm not at home right now, but I will definitely give them a try when I am! ~Lori
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived closer to the Southern area for Blissdom. Super jealous!! I only started my little blog two weeks ago but I sent you the html anyway. My prayers are with you!! I hope you hear nothing but good news:)
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in prayer. I had to have a follow up this year, too, which turned out to be nothing. It's a little unnerving, though, while you wait! Have fun in Nashville.
ReplyDeleteI'm putting you on my mental prayer list! It's such a blessing to have the medical technology we have, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity for us "newbies". I just emailed my post to you... in between loads of (sigh) laundry.
Praying for you...it's always nerve wracking waiting for medical tests. And I second the commenter who said we all need prayers. How much better our world would be if we prayed constantly for the needs of those we know of, their worries, their heartaches. Have a fabulous day! You, your blog, and your home are ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed for you that the second boob squishing reveals nothing!
ReplyDeleteI love the scrabble frame! Somehow I don't think Mr. Husband is going to let me sacrifice our scrabble pieces so I'll have to be on the lookout for a cheap set. Meanwhile, I'll be dreaming up all sorts of romantic phrases.
ReplyDelete{Sending prayers your way.}
Do not worry about the call back! The same thing happened to me and I was sick for days but it happens ALL THE TIME when you get your baseline. They have nothing to go by so that is usually why you have to go in a second time. I know, it is terrifying but I will be praying for you and have been there myself so I know how you must feel. :)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to do HTML to send you my blog posts....I am soooo learning as I go with my blog but will try to email you something anyway in hopes that I sent the "right" info.
You are in my thoughts and have fun in Nashville!
First of all...praying that your 2nd mammogram will be easier than the first & also praying for an A+ report!! Second of all...I hope that you have a safe & fabulous trip to Blissdom! I seriously am soo jealous & would love to go...I am making a promise to myself that next year I WILL be there! And third....I would love to be featured on your blog!!! Here is my post...I hope you like what you see!! http://loveoffamilyandhome.blogspot.com/2011/01/i-wanna-be-featured-by-thrifty-decor.html
ReplyDeletesending love your way <3 also sent you my blog post!
ReplyDeleteBig prayers and love for you! No matter how big or small the problem, He has room for ALL our prayers! I'll keep you in my thoughts!

ReplyDeleteI am keeping you in my prayers. I'm sure everything will be fine.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and you're in my prayers. I got called back to have a follow up after having results of "probably benign". They're going to do an us instead, and I've also heard that it is more precautionary than anything, but I know how you feel! Anything concerning health is super nervewracking. Xoxo
ReplyDeletePrayers your way!
ReplyDeleteTry not to worry. When I had my first mammogram, I, too, had to go back for another one. That was one of the longest weeks of my life. Bottom line...I have dense breasts and they needed to get a good baseline done for future mammograms. Lots of prayers.
ReplyDeleteMammograms o' Mammograms. Prayers, thoughts and lots of hearts are with ya.
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers, as always...
ReplyDeleteI love those frames! They're so cute! Maybe I can make miniature versions for this year's Valentine's day. I can use the Bananagrams tiles. :)
ReplyDeleteDarn, I just missed this by 5 minutes! Good luck with your mammogram. Likely to be nothing. I had to do this when I was 22 and there were no problems.....

I wish I had a blog to enter!...Sending up prayers...hope your doing ok... hugs x
ReplyDeleteShoot! I missed the deadline! That's what happens when the remodeling chaos interferes with the blogging :) Thanks for offering us "newbies" some blog love. That's very generous of you. Sending prayers your way...
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! You inspired me to tackle some V-Day crafts too, and I linked to your post. Glad to hear the mammogram follow-up went well!
ReplyDeletePrayers are going out to you! God doesnt ever give us more than we can handle. On a lighter note, I am SO in LOVE with that scrabble frame. Such a cute, cheap, and easy easy easy project! Thanks for the inspiration. You are one of my favorite ever blogs to read! Thanks girl.
