My sister’s food blog

February 25, 2014

Today I’m sharing a blogger very close to my heart…my sister. :) I actually have four sisters but this one is the one I grew up with so we have a special bond. She’s also ten years younger than me (she likes to specify that it’s really nine and a half) so I still tell what to do a lot. And she gets stuff for me. It’s going to be that way till we’re old and gray – I’ll be all, go get my my teeth! She’ll be all, whatever, get your own teeth! And then I’ll pull the older sister card and she’ll get them.

Anyway. Back when I started this blog my sister Elizabeth was known as “stink eye” around these parts. She lived with us for a while after college and it’s so crazy that she’s now a married woman with a blog of her own. Sniff. They grow up so fast.

My sister is a great cook and loves to be in the kitchen (that gene skipped over me), so that’s what her blog, Chocolates and Crockpots, is focused on for the most part. She brought some of these over yesterday and I ate four within minutes:

I would have eaten more but she had to take the rest back home to take “pictures for the blog.” Blah blah. (It’s a little weird to know someone else who uses that phrase all the time now.)

These strawberry cupcakes were delish!:

We always go strawberry picking together in early summer so I’m hoping she’ll make me some more of these. :)

Her 20 crock pot meals post was super popular:

She makes them ahead of time and freezes them – brilliant!

This apple pie chex mix was super yummy too:

I love how she changes things up – she likes to experiment with ingredients and try new things and it usually ends up pretty darn good!

These homemade cheese its looked so good:

That cute cutting board was from me. Just sayin.

And this loaded baked potato chip dip looked amazing…but I wouldn’t know how good it tasted cause she didn’t bring me any:

My sister Elizabeth is so creative and loves to craft – I thought this wine cork heart was SO cute for Valentine’s Day:

Love it!

By the way, she goes by Elie on the blog, but don’t listen to her. Her name is ELIZABETH. Whole word. I don’t know an Elie.

As you can tell, it’s fun to have younger siblings, cause you get to harass them. :) But in all seriousness I don’t know what I would do without her and I am so proud of her!

Check out her site if you love to cook or bake or even if you just want some easy snack ideas. Be sure to tell her her awesome older sis sent you. ;)

  1. So cute! I have an older sister (only by 14 months though!) I like to tease her about her "old age" all the time :)

  2. Stink Eye! That is so funny :) Heading over to visit her!

  3. My husband always refers to someone as being "his age" as if I am 10 years older! Born in the same year--me in Jan. and him in Nov. and he likes to think we are not the same age. Ugh--men. Hey-- he thinks my hair is black and it's brown--whatev'.

  4. Love that you guys are so close, even with the age gap! Her recipes look fantastic! I think I'll try the Apple Pie Chex Mix this weekend. Yum!!

  5. Been reading your blog for quite awhile now cause I love it! think I am going to love stink eye's as well!!

  6. How ironic, I just read from her blog a few days ago, and think I have read some in the past.

  7. Yay! I love Elie's (Elizabeth's) blog! So fun that you guys both blog and that you are so close :)

  8. Elie and I have become blogging friends in the past few weeks and she is co-hosting my blog hop, too. I love her blog. Both of you are so talented.

  9. Me too! I've read her blog and no idea she is your sister. I've a couple sisters too, one older and one younger. They don't bring me food though as I'm the one that takes them cakes, pies and cookies. hmmm.... ;)

The biscotti looks yummy. Headed over to take a look.

  10. Awesome! Love cooking blogs too :-)

  11. Oh, I'll have to check her blog out, Sarah! Thanks for sharing it...the biscotti looks soooo good!

  12. I love to cook and might have a wee bit of a recipe hoarding problem. So I'm all over your sister. Clearly that was not supposed to sound so dirty.

  13. Aw, that made me REALLY want a sister. *sigh* That's not gonna happen. Thanks for introducing Elizabeth's blog; Ima spend some time over there. I checked out her slow cooker post; I'm always glad for menu recommendations. Thanks ladies!

  14. I popped over there and her blog looks pretty good so I'm following her now. Thanks for the heads up on Stink Eye!

  15. Wow -- two talented girls in the family!! Her blog is fabulous too!

  16. I would LOVE to read your sister's blog - it looks great. But every time I click on link it goes to n ad and I can't go back or forward. Very frustrating!!!
