Hello my friends! Can you believe Christmas is one week away? Ahhh! Thankfully I'm pretty much ready, other than a ton of wrapping. This afternoon after school begins our family's favorite two weeks of the year. We sleep in as much as possible, make good food, go see a few movies and basically hibernate in the basement every evening. It's the best two week EVER. :)
Today I have a fun holiday-themed giveaway for you! This isn't just any book, it's my favorite book of the year. You may have seen my story about it a couple months ago:
Long story short, I walked into Hallmark one day, saw this pretty book on the counter and picked it up. I only looked at a few pages and the last one I came upon was a letter in my childhood handwriting:
Yes, my letter to Santa, 30+ years later. No, I had no idea it was going to be in the book. It was the find of a lifetime! I'm still in shock it happened and can't explain it. It's a testament to the magic of Christmas, that's for sure.
The book is a beautiful one with letters to Santa going back to the 40's:
I think those are my favorites. :)
The letters are sweet, sad and funny. These are from the 2010's and both made me laugh out loud (read to the end of the one on the right):
You can find the book online here as well.
Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back next week with a tour of our Christmas home!
My kids would love this! marasmith530 at aol dot com.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway opportunity. Merry Christmas!
Sounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteAs life continues at warp speed I have begun to think a lot of and miss that time of Christmas in the 60's. The store windows revealed with the displays of the "the beautiful dancing ballerina's". Never mind this is in the Mid-West where December means temperatures in the teens with gusty wind. We of course are dressed in our Christmas best -- short red velvet dresses & black leather shoes. Desert - mint ice cream covered with melted chocolate at the coolest Chocolatier Restaurant. Shopping meant the 'Children's Christmas Shoppe" No Parents allowed (that didn't stop my father who crawled thru the little curved door looking for us cause we were taking sooooo long). Just trying to decide between the Pre-shave or the After-shave cologne in teeny tiny 1 oz. bottles. The mystical toy-land with the interactive elves and the spinning dancing Mr. & Mrs. Santa Clause. We knew nothing of the "real world". The Viet Nam war, the lovin hippies or political unrest. We were so insulated and safe. "My Letters to Santa Claus" reminds us all of those innocent moments, no matter the decade. Your letter was full of love and perfect penmanship of Script writing, now no-longer taught. Its all about the key boarding. But we always have "our memories" no matter the decade.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Frittzie frittzie_bsn33@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful book. I have 2 older teenagers who have lost the excitement of opening presents on christmas. When my younger son saw a video of them as younger boys he couldn't believe how excited they were to open their gifts. He said "this year we are going to have a fun Christmas". This would be cute to share and read together. Thanks for offering these. Happy Holidays!
