Simple Thanksgiving dinner tablescape ideas with pumpkins and candlelight!

Table settings for the holidays don't need to be fussy or hard to put together! I created two Thanksgiving table looks with a few small DIY touches to welcome your guests.

I absolutely love how they turned out! Both are simple Thanksgiving table setting ideas that could easily be changed up just a bit for Christmas as well.

We'll start with the colorful version -- I used a green and blue color palette that ties into our home decor, and then added some traditional fall colors to warm things up a bit.

For the colorful look I started with this fall scarf draped over the table instead of a full plaid tablecloth:

Remember, you don't have to use traditional linens like a table runner! Add some texture to the display with a thin blanket or seasonal scarf draped over the table instead.

I found those adorable little cutting boards at Hobby Lobby for $2 each, and decided to use them as place cards on top of the dishes. I had the paper tags in my craft stash, but you can find them here as well

I grabbed this chalky Krylon spray paint in the color Anvil Gray to coat a few of the fake bright orange pumpkins I have in my stash:

I LOVE this dusty blue color and am trying to figure out where else I can use it!

I layered up my favorite beaded dinnerware on top of the round hyacinth chargers at the place settings -- those woven placemats fit in so well in every season!:

I've had those dinner and salad plates for at least ten years and they still look brand new!

A few details about this Thanksgiving centerpiece:
  • I layered my olive branches and a few eucalyptus leaves down the center of the table. It turned out beautifully!
  • Those brass candlesticks are a classic and I use them all year round. Mine are vintage but you can find similar brass candlesticks here
  • The "vase" for the floral centerpiece is a soup crock. (I found it at Meijer years ago.) Those colorful alstroemeria flowers last forEVER.
  • I like table linens that I don't have to worry about -- it's so easy to clean up this scarf in the wash!
  • I nestled some of the blue and green mini pumpkins throughout the greenery:

I had to get a night shot! There's nothing better than candles for a cozy mood, right?

Now for the softer, simpler tablescape! This version is much more neutral, but I kept the blue hues.

I removed the scarf and left the table bare:

I think the wood tabletop showcases the greenery even more!

Have you ever used a baby's breath bouquet as a centerpiece? It's so beautiful...the simple beauty of these delicate flowers is underrated!

I've done this a few times over the years and always love the look:

I think white pumpkins would look lovely with this simpler Thanksgiving table setting as well!

Isn't that gold flatware so pretty? They were only $2 each at Target! Perfect when you don't really need a full five-piece set.

If you're celebrating turkey day with your small immediate family or large extended group, it doesn't take much to dress up the table!

Both of these options are a comfortable and casual vibe that I love. Hopefully these simple tablescape ideas inspire you!:

As I mentioned, this could easily be switched up for Christmas! That greenery works beautifully all year.
