Aw, I don't live anywhere near Indianapolis but that sounds like a blast! Be careful though-- when my friend and I go Goodwill/flea market shopping, it's a fight to the death to determine who goes home with what!
ReplyDeleteReally wishing I lived near Indianapolis- too bad I'm stuck in Alabama!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the inspiration. Your blog makes my day brighter, one Goodwill find at a time :)

jealous! If you're ever in Idaho..give me a ring. Have fun (those of you who get to go).
ReplyDeleteAll this stair talk is SO tempting me to take a peek under my carpet...I wonder what Mr. T would say...maybe I will just have to do it while he's at work. Have fun with your goodwill hopping...I SO wish I could be there!
ReplyDeleteWell, I used to live in West Lafayette and if I was still there, I'd come on down. The Goodwill in my current city S T I N K S. They don't even accept furniture. Boo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea though, you girls have fun!! :)
PS: Stairs are going to be awesome.
You have no idea how insanely jealous I am that I can't go Goodwilling with you! However I will go out to my fav Goodwill in Oregon and think of you guys! I can't believe it, you are going to have so.much.fun!

ReplyDeleteHave a great time!
YES! But I live no where near you. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous, sounds like it will be a great time!
Wish I could be there for the Goodwill hunting but it is a bit too far out of my way. Those stairs are starting to look really good.
ReplyDeleteI am not in your area, bummer, but these are great ideas, thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCan you live stream it? I'm a little too far to make the trip but so want to go with you!
ReplyDeleteOh, and what kind of black paint do you use? Every one I've tried looks terrible! Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun time!!! Can't wait to see what great items you guys come across!
ReplyDeleteI would soooooooo be there if I lived even 4 hours away! If you ever make a road trip and head down south to Ooooooklahoma, I'd be the first in line!!! Wanna?!?!?
ReplyDeleteJust recently found your blog and I'm so impressed. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas and talent. Looking forward to drooling over your shopping trip finds :))
Robin in Oklahoma
Sorry I don't live near by to join you on your shopping trip. I will join in the fun by visiting my local thrift stores instead.

Dang, I'm no where near there..Guess I'll have to live through your GW adventures! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the transformation. I know it's going to be fab-U-lous! ;>
ReplyDeleteGod's blessings,
Sarah :D
I'm going in a little over an hour with a girlfriend to a nearby town that has lots of junk shops. and as a special bonus I'm also leaving someof my stuff at the non profit thrift store. Yipee! I actually spent several hours at work last nite so I can justify this. She's never been to any of them and is collecting cream ware to decorate at her daughters wedding so wish us luck!
ReplyDelete(I'm for dishes to break for mosaic)
Kathy
Darn. I just had to live in Virginia, didn't I??! ;) You all are going to have a blast!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun, Sarah! Let's just hope you don't have 15 women going for the same "find"! : ) I love that dark stain you are showing on that one step. I would really love to do the dark with the white risers. Maybe when yours is done I'll show a picture to hubby and see if I can't talk him into it. It looks like we'll be staying in our house for another year or two, so why not!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to find out what you're up to next!
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived closer. Maybe you can take pictures of your goodwilling, or videos! Yeah, yeah!
Both of your tables are just gorgeous. I never see anything like that at our GW, but your treasures are just wonderful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteNote to self: rent U-Haul, wake at 4am, road trip!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. I'm in Michigan so I'm always too far for fun stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteBut anyways, the stairs are going to look BEAUTIFUL with that color stain. Nice choice!
Yay!!! I can't wait to see your finished stairs!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Wish I could join you.
ReplyDeleteGreat color on the step, BTW. That's going to make SUCH a difference!
what a fun day! I used to donate to our school auction a day of Thrifting in Seattle. I had so much fun taking those 7 women around the city. Our van was packed full of goodies. I wished I lived closer so that I could join you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I so want to go! How far of a drive would that be? I might have to check that out. Me...alone in the car...leaving the kids at home...heading to shop at Goodwill...with super cool chicks...pure BLISS!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for the stairs!
Awww man, that sounds soo fun! But I am in Pa. :-( I can just see you all tackling each other going after the same great stuff though! lol, Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can tell the stairs are going to look fabulous!
Goodwill hopping sounds like fun - to bad I live in Atlanta. Those stairs are going to be (as you would say) fanfreakingtastic. I can't wait see what they look like complete.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I can't wait to hear about your day! Sure wish I lived closer!
ReplyDeleteWhy do all of my fave blogges live so far away?! I think buying a plane ticket would sort of conteract any goodwill savings!
ReplyDeleteThe suspense of your stairway makeover is killing me! Doeit inclde a design element on the riser?
Well, I'm heading to Goodwill soonest! I LOVE your stain choice and can't wait to see the "after" GL - they say it helps to lean down and put your head between your knees ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wanna go to lunch and go shopping. But I live in New York:(
ReplyDeletesniffle sniffle. You are one of my favorite blog writers and I am already stalking you here I would just love to get to meet you in person. Oh by the way my 17 yearold named her fish squishy also and she has me on the look out for a gumball machine.
Your stairs are going to be GORGEOUS!!!! Oh my goodness. I would love to do that... Maybe down the road. You've inspired too many other projects already! =) Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous. My goodwill had NOTHING like your finds.
ReplyDeleteWe have several Goodwill stores nearby, but the one closest never has much in the way of furniture and home dec...mostly clothes! Might have to Goodwill hop with my girlfriend in the near future. The stairs...I can see you adding molding or decorative wood ornamentation to the fronts of the risers!! LOL I am about ready to rip the carpet back off our back staircase again (it has to be done sooner or later since we added the hardwoods upstairs...the top step is messed up!). Can't decide whether to stain or paint again. Our hardwoods are different colors (darker upstairs...so not sure which I'd match).
ReplyDeleteHi, your goodwill finds are great. i love what you did with the table.I'm all the way in new jersey so i can't come along.Have fun...Kathy
ReplyDeleteI really wish I could go too, have fun!
ReplyDeleteawwwww - I'm feeling so left out! LOL Nowhere near Indiana! Now, I wonder who is near me in Florida...hmmmmm...there's an idea! (giggle)
ReplyDeleteClick here to see my new give-away!
Y'all are going to have a great time. If I were closer to Indianapolis, I'd come!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be great fun to see what you're doing with the stairs. Now I'm thinking you must be adding something to the risers. Stencilling? Vinyl?
Or maybe you're adding molding/wainscoting to the wall.
Or both!
Sarah can do anything!!
I just started following your blog and I love it! Me and a friend also started a decorating blog and we are having so much fun!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.frugallydesigned.blogspot.com/
I would love to go shopping with you two! But I am in So Cal, so it wouldn't work. Bummer! Can't wait to see your stairs!
ReplyDeleteOhhh! so jealous! Wish I could join you ladies it's right up my alley, but unfortunately the alley isn't close by, lol. Live in Delaware. But take lots of pics and share:) Have a grand time.

Stairs are going to be awesome, and what a GREAT idea about a thrift store hop- GENIUS! Wish I knew about all of the great antique/thrift finds in my neck of the woods so I could organize one around here... I need someone to put one together in Colorado so I can find them all!
ReplyDeleteI was just in Indy for 10 days at the Indianapolis home show! I stopped in at the GW in Fishers, next door to my hotel, very nice! This past weekend, i went to my goodwill and picked up 3 really cool big white bowls that i will be using at my sons rehearsal dinner! Also some nice clear glass pieces that i plan on using for the candy bar at the reception! HAve a great time, i am in southern indiana near Cincy, sue
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is from Indy, and his brother and parents still live there! Too bad your GW shop hopping trip won't be coinciding with a trip out your way, because it looks like you have some great finds in your area!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see you beautiful new dark stained staircase when it's all done!
Kat :)
Shoot. Live too far away (again!) to join you all, it sounds so fun!!
ReplyDeleteUh, yes I want to go shopping with you? You're ladies are making me want to move to Indy!! Ugggh! Sounds like so much fun maybe next one you could plan a destination shop and hop - let's say....Kansas City?!
ReplyDeleteOooo that sounds like fun! But I live in Maine...so I'll just stay here and be jealous ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see those stairs all finished and purdy!!!
for petes sake, i live in Michigan and am seriously considering driving 5 hours just to go to goodwill for the day! lol. now that might be a problem.
ReplyDeleteI love Goodwill shopping! I think it's so therapeutic to take something that someone else doesn't want and turn it into beautiful pieces to grace my home! You have clearly done an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a inspirational blog - please drop by mine (www.dh-designs.blogspot.com) for a well deserved award!
Thanks...Donna <3
I am pretty sure my husband would think I had lost my mind if I told him I wanted to fly to Indianapolis to shop at a Goodwill there! ;D
ReplyDeleteBut I am considering it!!
I love the stained steps on the stairs...I was reluctant to like them because I do love some nice cooshy carpet, but they look AWESOME so far...eagerly awaiting the reveal!

ReplyDeleteWish I was closer & I'd join ya'll! Those stairs are gonna be so purdy.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds super fun! Gosh, I wish I could go. This is the first time that I've ever been sad that I live in the Wild West. Have a great time, and take lots of pictures to share :D
ReplyDeleteYour stairs are going to look fabulous when you get them finished!
ReplyDeleteI might have to make a trip to Indy for that! It would be so fun hanging out with you girls. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this color of spray-paint, too. Used it for my (brass-yuck) foyer chandelier and saved myself tons of money in the process.
You never cease to amaze me with all the projects you pull off, Sarah!! I feel very lazy in comparison. I'll just be happy if I get the laundry done today. Ha.
OMG! I have so missed coming by your blog! Its overwhelming just to try to catch up! You out did yourself with ORB! A fantastic thing to know!and GoodWill is amazing- I just liked keeping it to myself for all these years-LOL!
ReplyDeleteummm, i think im going to walmart when the twins wake up to buy this spray paint. the brass on the fireplace is #1 priority! and oh how i wish i could join you on your goodwill trips!
ReplyDeleteI am from the Indianapolis area (Carmel to be exact) and spent a few years in high school working at our local Goodwill. LOVED IT! First dibs on everything that came in, and you get to price it too! Jealous?! I'm miles away now in the Seattle area, but I would have loved to joined you on your adventure. Enjoy! Your little post just brought back so many memories.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask you about your stair project? I would love to do the very same thing to our ugly carpeted stairs. Are you staining the wood that was under the carpets or did you replace the wood?
ReplyDeleteI think Texas is a little too far to drive. Have fun though! I'm bummed I have to miss out. Have a great time and NO CAT FIGHTING over awesome finds! :)
