Hey there! Have you checked out the Holiday Home Mantel Party at Layla’s yet? Some serious inspiration going on!! (You can see ours here.) Even if you don’t have a mantel, you’ll be sure to find some great ideas for your holiday decorating. :)
Late in the season last year I did a Christmas craft that I absolutely LOVE – I wanted to show it to you again in case you wanted to try it out yourself.
I had seen some Santa hats at Stein Mart one day, and just thought they were adorable!:

Killing me. So fun! But I knew I could recreate them myself for less cash, so that I did.
Now I think mine are actually cuter, if I do say so myself:

And making them was way cheaper than buying them – score!!

Since I made them so close to Christmas last year, I just threw them in a tray I had laying around. But this week I found the most adorable tray at Hob Lob and it is just perfect for my cutie hats:

It was only $5 on sale! SCORE again. :)
I filled in around them with some extra Dollar Tree ornaments:

Well hello there!:

HA!
My Santa hats are one of my very favorite Christmas decorations. Partly because I made them myself. Partly because they are stinkin’ cauute!:

I’ve heard that some of you have made them with your kids, students and with friends – I LOVE that!! Makes me so happy. :)
For all of the details of how I made these (they were SO simple), check out last year’s post here. If you’ve made them, I’d love to see pictures!
So are you done decorating? It takes me a few days…or maybe a week. :) But I’m trying to take my time and enjoy it, especially since the Bub loves Christmas decor as much as me this year. I have a partner in crime and I love it!
P.S. I can’t believe how much our family room has changed since the pictures in that Santa hat post last year – all because of a $100 Craigslist dresser. ;) Love.
I LOVE your santa hat! i remember it from last year! I wish i was more crafty....sigh. I think i will search etsy in case someone decided to make these in bulk :)
ReplyDeleteOh I just love those!! :) So cute! I made something similar the other day!

ReplyDeleteThese are just the thing I need for our hutch! Soooo stinking cute!
ReplyDeleteI love them! They are stinkin' cute! : ) I'm still tweaking, but I hope to be done by this coming weekend. By then I'll be saying "enough already"!
ReplyDeleteI bookmarked those from last year. I'm making a set for me and a set for my niece as a gift this year. At least that's the goal.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute DIY! I may have to try this out this year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the instructions!
I remember those! Such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLayla :-)
They are so stinkin ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!! I want some!!!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute but I can't locate anywhere on your blog on how to make them. I searched the archives as well and nothing comes up. Is it posted somewhere?
ReplyDeleteI am going to make these right away! I remember them from last year, but never got around to making them. This year - it's gonna happen! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable and clever!!! You are giving me so many great ideas, thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt takes me a while to decorate as well - I'm almost finished, although every time I visit you I get new ideas. For instance, now I want to take the tray we never use (seriously, never removed from box after 2 1/2 years) and arrange some greenery, ribbon & candles (in cups!) on it - then plop it on the coffee table. Yay new idea! You've become such an inspiration to me in such a short time!
Love the Santa hat craft idea.
ReplyDeleteI literally laughed outloud when you asked if I was done decorating yet. Seriously? Late last night we bought the tree and got it up in the stand. That's all...does that count for anything? I'm hoping for progress this weekend...but finished isn't even on the list for the weekend...maybe next week sometime.
I'm jealous of those that are done and can sit back...but with two kids and a cop/national guard hubby I'm on my own and whew...'nough said!
These make me smile, I HEART them!
ReplyDeleteHi! I love the Santa hats! I was thinking that if you affixed the fabric with velcro, then you can easily change them out to witch's hats in the fall and that would be super cute too!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute and I love that you were able to make them for a fraction of the price! You have inspired me. I don't sew but a glue gun I can do!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute that I went out at lunch to buy supplies for them. Unfortunately my stupid Joann's didn't have the black trim. I got some black velvet with lint all over it but I'm wondering if black duct tape would work. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I've never commented on your blog before but I do enjoy reading! I just had to let you know that last year when you posted this I went straight to the store and bought the items to make them! =o) They turned out so cute! Thank you, for sharing.

ReplyDeleteI used lime green jewels for the belt buckle....(they didn't have enough of the clear to do all three hats and I'm impatient)....turns out the lime green is a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e!.... thanks for the idea!
Well you created quite the nifty deal! This looks fantastic :)
