Modern Home Tour With Amazing Lighting Design Accents

How purposeful, beautiful lighting accents warm up this modern home.
We recently toured the Indianapolis Dream Home, and at first I wasn't going to share the tour here. The home was gorgeous and very modern, but I can appreciate any decor style, even if it isn't what I would pick.
But as we walked through, I was so taken with the lighting in this home, I just had to share. It was SO well done, and made the more sparse rooms feel so much warmer.
It was the best lighting I've ever seen in a home, and the lighting accents were consistent throughout.
I wanted to share here, because I was so impressed with how the designers made the lighting fixtures into works of art, and beautiful accents in the home.
The staircase was just stunning -- usually I'm not a fan of open risers, but all of the details came together so beautifully:
Notice the lights under each step. They make for a beautiful accent from below and functional lighting as you walk up the steps.
The modern orbs that hang from the fixture reflect off of the stone wall and give you even more light:
I appreciated the use of the lighter wood tone against the dark black stone. So well done!
A friend of ours worked on parts of this home, and he shared that these stone "art" pieces niched into the walls were actually air intake for the HVAC:
Another brilliant way of adding warm lighting and disguising a utilitarian detail in the house.

I didn't get a great shot of the kitchen, but it was MASSIVE.
I'm not always a fan of double islands in a kitchen, but I loved the way this was laid out, with the second island having stools around it for gathering.
Notice the lighting that runs under the kitchen base cabinets -- I've always thought this was a cool idea, but would just highlight the crumbs and animal fur under our cabinets. ;)
But with lighter floors I think it would work much better.
The family room area was simple but pretty cozy for such a massive space. See the warm lighting coming from the ceiling on the fireplace wall?:
It's another lighting accent that warms up the space a bit. This would be so lovely in the evenings!
I realized throughout the tour that the use of symmetry was speaking to my soul. :) I try to break of out that with design occasionally, but I'm a symmetry girl at heart!
The living room when you walk in was modern, and we thought the U-shaped fireplace was unique:
I love how they used the stone to reflect the light -- I'm sure the experts did that on purpose!
The office was sparse, but the lighting along the shelving warmed it up a bit:
I don't think I've ever seen a bigger bed! It may not come across on the computer screen, but this room was surprisingly warm.
The dark tone of the drapery fabric, along with the accent lighting under the bed made it feel cozy in person:
And that light fixture!! It was massive. I always recommend going bigger with a light -- most times a slightly larger chandelier or fixture will look better than one that's too small.
Btw, the lighting under the bed (and base cabinets in the kitchen) can easily be added with these DIY lights I shared last week.
OK this kid room I'm just including because it was cute! I should mention, this home is owned by Gary Harris, who is currently signed with the Milwaukee Bucks:
Fitting for an NBA player as a dad! :)
This secondary primary suite was had minimal decor, but when we walked in, yet again it felt warm and welcoming. It wasn't until we were walking back out that I noticed the unique light fixture:
I really loved it -- I've never seen anything like it!
The lighting in this home was so different, but it was never the first thing I noticed. I think there's a lot to be said for that, design-wise.
The basement isn't as warm and cozy as I thought it would be. I expected there to be a lot more low lighting and warm colors.
They did have fun with the fixtures down there though, like these that ran from the wall through the ceiling:
The rest of these pics are just for fun, because who has an indoor basketball court...
The exterior was just gorgeous, I wish I could have seen it in the evening! I've always said landscape lighting makes all the difference, and I'm sure they had done some amazing things.
This two story screened in porch was impressive:
One end of the backyard pool ran off an infinity edge and created a lovely fountain:
I loved all of the outdoor seating areas, this covered area was the focal point of of the backyard:
And the view back up to the house was stunning:
I was so impressed with this home! Again, not my style really, but I can appreciate the talent that went into the design.
The lighting was the highlight for me -- it was a great example of how much it can warm up even the biggest, more modern spaces.
Have you used interesting lighting anywhere in your home? If I could do it all over again (which I never want to 😂), I would add more accent lighting around our home during the building process.
