The Best Sweet and Fruity Red Sangria Recipe

Delicious red wine fruity sangria recipe, the perfect summer drink!

This fruity sangria is one of my favorite sweet summer drinks. It's slightly fizzy and so refreshing.

My red wine sangria is easy to make and is a lighter beverage perfect for warmer days. (But it's a favorite of mine year round!)

A lovely reader shared this sangria recipe YEARS ago...probably nearly 15 years now. I needed a good one for an event coming up and sent out the call on the blog.

I’ve tried a lot of sangria in my day (well not a LOT, but a few…you know. Whatever.) and it’s hard to find one that has the right amount of sweet fruitiness, but isn't overwhelming.

Here’s what you’ll need for this delicious red sangria:
ingredients for red wine sangria

Now the first time I read the recipe, it felt like there were SO MANY ingredients.

But 1.) we usually have most if not all of the ingredients on hand and 2.) it's worth it:

The only ingredient I usually need to pick up when I make it is the cheap fruity wine.

Here are the measurements for the sangria ingredients:

The Best Fruity Sangria Recipe

1 1/2 cup orange juice
2 tbsp triple sec (or any orange liqueur)
1/2 cup brandy
1 bottle (750 ml) fruity red wine (the cheaper, the sweeter, the better)
3 tbsp sugar
2 to 3 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 cup chilled lemon/lime sparkling water
sliced lemons/oranges/limes

You’ll want to mix the first six ingredients (hold off on the lemon/lime water) and stir well to make sure the sugar disperses throughout:

Next up, cut the fruit into slices or wedges:

One of the reasons I love this drink is because it’s such a pretty one to serve. :)

Make sure to clean the fruit well before slicing since you'll be adding it to the drink.
Don't limit yourself to citrus fruits! This sangria would be delicious with strawberries, pineapple, cherries...just about anything.

I like to let this steep in the fridge for a while -- preferably over night. But it is still super delicious right away too. Letting it sit really deepens the flavor.

No matter how long you wait, right before you serve the sangria add the flavored sparkling water.

The carbonation makes it so refreshing, light and just slightly fizzy:

So good!

I've been using the lime Bubly cans for the past few years, the size is perfect for this recipe.

Side note: we like our orange juice with pulp but I make this with pulp-free OJ. You can also strain out the pulp if that's all you have.

I make this often for get togethers or girl’s night and it’s always a hit. I like to brag that my late father-in-law loved my sangria. He liked sangria but could never find one he loved, until this one.

Mine was his favorite. :)

Hope you’ll try it and love it too!:
