Comparing Six Faux Cedar Christmas Garlands {Looks & Value!}

November 13, 2025

Comparing six cedar Christmas garland options for your decor this holiday season.

I use a lot of faux greenery in our Christmas decor around our home -- I love draping it over mirrors, doorways, railings and of course the mantel!

Tips for creating a gorgeous Christmas mantel!

For our mantel, I use a combination of a bunch of different garlands I've had for years with berries, pine cones and ribbon for a pop of color and texture throughout.

In other areas, I usually use the beautiful Norfolk Pine garland that I shared here

For a few years I was using fresh, real garland in my decor, but they are SO expensive. And you can't decorate as early because they dry out very quickly.

This year I wanted a fluffier cedar garland in a couple spots, so I started looking around online to see what options were out there. I purchased six different styles to compare and decide which was the best buy.

Fake greenery can get expensive! Hopefully this comparison will help you to decide on one for your home this season.

I'm sharing zoomed in photos, as well as all of them next to each other so you can see the color and fullness comparisons. I also created a video with my thoughts on each one and close up views (at the end of this article!).

None of these are pre-lit garlands, as they are harder to find and definitely more expensive!

1. Holiday Living cedar garland, Lowe's

This is the most sparse version of the bunch, but the same cost as most.

Here's a look at this Lowe's faux cedar garland laid out -- for all of these overview pics I placed these on the countertop, no fluffing or adjusting:

It's a lovely color and texture -- the stems look and feel very realistic.

So very soft, and I like the longer stems:

I also like the realistic green tone.

One of the cons with this version is that the branch doesn't look great -- you can see gaps and glue throughout:

Considering this isn't very full, you'll see those imperfections on the branch. I compared the branches on all of the garlands and this one faired the worst.

This one was my least favorite, mostly because it started falling apart. In the end, there were four stems that had fallen off:

And all I was doing was taking pictures of it! I imagine you'd have more fall out over time.

This Lowe's garland was $35 for six feet, which wasn't the best deal when all was said and done. I did like the look of it, but it's not the best quality.

2. Kirkland's Juniper greenery

This Kirklands greenery was really beautiful! Very full and fluffy, and I loved the realistic coloring:

It laid so nicely, no adjusting needed!

The stems are plentiful and feel very soft to the touch:

And I didn't have any fallout at all. The branch was wired and wrapped nicely:

This Kirkland's garland is really pretty, but it's one of the most expensive and the shortest one I found. Their Juniper greenery is only five feet for $45, but they are usually on sale. I got mine for $34.

Overall for the length, I don't think it's the best deal...but it is gorgeous and very realistic looking!

3. My Texas House garland, Walmart

This Naturale Feel Cedar Garland is beautiful and the longest option so far, at nine feet. It's not quite as full as the Kirkland's version, but I still really like it:

This greenery is droopier (is that a word?), which may not sound like a good thing...but I love the way it looks.

The stems are wispy and the green color is more subdued.:

The branch on this one is tightly wrapped, which I think would hold up very well over time:

This My Texas House greenery is one of the best deals and looks beautiful! One nine foot strand is $35, so it will go much further in your decor!

4. Jutom cedar greenery, Amazon

OK, this nine foot cedar garland is another great deal, and is almost identical to the Walmart version! There are only two slight differences.

See how similar it is to the My Texas House?:

The only difference is the color -- it's just slightly less vibrant in color.

Otherwise, you can't tell them apart when you just look at the stems:

The only other difference is the way the branch is wrapped.

I think the Walmart version may hold up just a bit better over time, but they are very similar:

I didn't have any stems fall off at all, so far so good.

These last two are so similar, the price for this one is one dollar more at $36. But if you want more than one, this Amazon option is your best bet, as you can get two for around $60.

Keep in mind, the price may go up the closer we get to Christmas.

5. Hobby Lobby cedar greenery

This cedar garland went viral last year, for good reason! It's really, really beautiful...so lush!:

As far as fullness, it's one of my favorites! I think it has the most organic look of all six.

I like that the color varies throughout the stems:

The tone in this photo below isn't great, (see above to see the real color), but I wanted to show you how many more stems are coming out of the branch:

They're not as droopy, and it feels so much more substantial.

The kicker with this option is that it's priced at $100, but is always on sale. Currently they are 50 percent off, but even with the sale it's still $50. And that's for only six feet.

This Hobby Lobby option also comes lighted (for more $$), but I prefer to add my own lights.

You will LOVE this one! It's the best artificial garland I found, but it's the most expensive option by far.

6. Hananona Amazon cedar greenery

This final option is the best faux garland in my opinion! The Hananona brand cedar greenery stands out because it has a much brighter green color:

When you see it against the others, it's not quite as realistic looking. But I still LOVE this one.

It's very dense and looks beautiful when draped. The stems and texture are very similar to the Kirkland's (#3) and other Amazon versions ($4) -- very soft and wispy:

But this one is twice as thick as those two options.

It also has the same wired, wrapped branch as the other Amazon greenery:

I paid $35 for this version, but again, the prices will change over time. You get a better deal purchasing two.

If you're placing this on a flat surface like a mantel, it will lay beautifully! You won't have to do much at all to make it look amazing.

One thing to note with these droopier versions -- I draped this greenery from our stair railing, and when it hangs it doesn't look as great without some adjustment:

All I did was flip a few stems over the branch here and there:

It only took a few minutes to adjust 18 feet of the greenery, so not a big deal to me! The two nine foot strands were just the right size for both sets of our railings.

So worth it for this luscious garland!

Here's a look at all of the options laid out next to each other, from left to right as I talked about them:

You can really tell the difference in the colors and fullness when these faux garlands are laid out together.

The color variations aren't a big deal, as they're all lovely on their own. I wouldn't combine the more subdued green options with the last one that's brighter, but otherwise you'd never think one looks better than the other.

It may be worthwhile to see what tone of green your Christmas tree is first, especially if they'll be near each other.

I created a video so you can see the movement and colors of each in real time. Seeing them on video really gives a better view of the fullness as well. You can see that on my Thrifty Decor Chick YouTube channel!

I hope this comparison of six cedar garlands helped you decide on the best option for your home this Christmas!
