Last minute Halloween decor ideas

Here we go with a few last minute Halloween decor items I've put together in the past week or so.
I had some leftover wood from my laundry room table, so I made an itty bitty Eek sign. Price: free!!
I actually have a ton of extra wood I'm going to try making some fun Christmas stuff with. :)
I saw these printable old bottle labels here a couple weeks ago, and have been looking for bottles since. I finally found bud vases at WalMart the other day.
I had the cork stoppers, and used green food coloring with water. So fun:
Cheap glitteries (made that word up, thanks) from Joann Etc. stuck in my fake foliage:
The thrift shops I frequent are various Goodwill stores. Consignment shops are a bit different -- they sell items that people like YOU bring in. It's a great set up -- take advantage of it if you have one nearby!
When I decluttered this year I took a TON of stuff to a local shop. I have received many checks in the mail, but the best part is if you catch them before they send out checks, you have a credit in their computer. So credit = free fun things for you!
I also took a ton of our clothes to a couple shops and we've made $60 so far. Try it out. I found this fun Halloween garland there for $3:
The next items were Goodwill finds.
On the left was a cheese platter -- I painted the wood platter black and added a pedestal to the bottom. Now it's kinda like a cloche. Love it.
The "art" is just a glittery wood cut out glued onto scrapbook paper.
The little cloche on the right is one of my all time finds just because it's so fun! I think it was a candle holder that sat in a holder. But turned upside down, on a $.35 wooden pedestal I painted black, it's a teeny tiny cloche!
This was the find of the season...the easel part on the back was broken off, so I got 70 percent off...the SALE price!! It was $20 and I got it for $3.50. I was going to string cobwebs all over it but I'm pooping out...
Christmas is on the brain you know...
Finally, my little pumpkin/candle my stepmom got me for my birthday.
I just recently found your site and I always look forward to see what you've done. I can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!

ReplyDeleteWe are already listening to Christmas music in the car, in the kitchen and the kiddos request to sing at least one Christmas song every evening;) Can't wait to see what is up your sleeve for Christmas makings!
I will ditto the Wal Mart comment. I think it is more I hate it but when I get there I fall in love. I always find the best stuff at WalMart! SHHHH! Don't tell anyone. I am already thinking about my pre-Christmas dash to WalMart. If I go early enough I find good stuff and beat the crazees.
ReplyDeleteI needed a good laugh. Love your humor from this post and all of your goodies look great! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

I have that same wire pumpkin...if you have Walgreen's where you live, they have 1/2 off their fall items. It's ok to listen to Christmas music now...Oct. 31 vs. Nov. 1 depends on the time zone...keep that in mind! ;O)

ReplyDeleteYour post cracked me up! OK, so I'm mad because I bought that garland at Pottery Barn two years ago for like Fifteen Dollars or something like that. I feel ripped off now ha ha. Live and Learn to thrift shop. Problem is I'm starting to get addicted.

ReplyDeleteI am a new "stalker" of your blog. Your ideas are so cute so I will be checking your blog quite a bit. I have one question - how did you get your ghosts and bats flying around your blog? That is so cute. I saw that you got it from pryzm but I can't find them. Anyway, I really like all of your cute decorating ideas.
ReplyDeleteI like the glass dishes with the food in them. :P
ReplyDeleteOk, this post was just awesome but I was totally laughing at the end. Shut it---haha, love it. The EEK blocks were great...the stars just made them. I'm thinking Christmas too...I've already started some projects. I can't believe November 1st is so soon! Woot woot! I love Christmas. My sister-in-law loves it more. She plays Christmas CD's in the summer.

I'm so glad your little guy is doing a bit better. I am with you on the great finds at the thrift/consignment stores...and you have to check often to see if someone by chance dropped of a 'great deal' just a few minutes before you get there. YOU JUST HAVE TO...hahaha...I love finding my treasures, and it is soooo therapeutic!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Deb
I for one can't wait for Christmas craftiness! :)
