Secondly, before I show you how Christmas blew up in our house, check out the GORG wreath I got today at Tar-jay!
My girlfriend bought one this year and it was GORG on her door. I got it this morning for only $17! But I'm thrifty, so it took some convincing from Sister for me to get it. I am SO glad I did:
OK, now onto the PIT that has been our house for the past two days (you can't walk in this room and it looks worse now):
Let's just say we have a VERY lucky and happy two-year-old on our hands. My stepdaughter wanted small expensive things...he got HUGE monstrous toys, like TENTS:
What the heck was I thinking? I was thinking fun-unfinished-basement-play-area. But failed to remember that is is freakin' freezing cold down there right now so not one of us will brave it. The heating company is coming this week because I can stand about one more day of this and then everything needs to find a home. :)
But we had a WONDERFUL few days, and I wouldn't change the mess, the toys, the pile of trash for the world. We are blessed.
Hope you had a great holiday! I'm going keep taking some time to check in with many of your sites and will be back soon. And I am ITCHIN' to get back to my molding projects -- I'm going through withdrawal! I have a few projects in mind I cannot wait to get started on.
Oh, and remember to keep in mind how you organize things in your home so you can share them with us on the 12th!! We are going to DECLUTTER and ORGANIZE ladies!!
Loved seeing how much fun your son has been having. They grow up so fast. I agree, let them play!!
ReplyDeleteOh we have a pit here also!
ReplyDeleteAnd I need all the organizing I can get. :)
Whew!! So I'm not the only one who's house looks like it got hit by a tornado?? Great! I'm currently sorting, cleaning, packing, etc. But you already knew that from my post. I'll definitely have lots to share on the 12th!! I'll start taking pictures, lol. I'm on a mission!!
ReplyDeleteOh ya, by the way, I don't know where you live, probably east coast b/c you have Hobby Lobby, but do you have Gottschalks? If you do, you should go there. I found a 3 piece apothecary set for $9.99!! It was originally $60. And I got lots of other goodies. I should show them all!
Ya, this year I did the whole get up early thing. My alarm was set for 6:00, but I shut it off. I got up at 6:45. Good enough!! I was at Target by 7:25. And got some good deals. Again, I should show them!
{Um, wow, that was a long comment!!}
ReplyDeleteone of my new rules is the present can't be bigger than the kid lol.
ReplyDeleteOh my...I love to organize too...It is a hobby...I am going to try my best at getting some things together :) Glad to hear Christmas was a hit!
ReplyDeletefirst of all.... love the wreath! This was the first year I didn't hit the sales, kinda sad but I'll live! ha!
ReplyDeleteSecond... I CANNOT wait for the organizing to begin!!
Have a great weekend!
That looks like my house! The carnage is unbelievable! I am glad some one else is like that!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one that looks like a toy store exploded in their home! Looking forward to the organizing and decluttering!!
ReplyDeleteOur house always looks like that about 30 seconds after the kids wake up. And who wants to clean on Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah, that's a pretty wreath! I love those after Christmas deals too & always go out and look for them. sounds like a fun Christmas at your house.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're having an organization party, fun! I'll have to see if I can think of something to share & you think of something for my Jan. 7th Best of 2008 party. Details coming Monday!
Your home may been trashed but all that shows is that you all had an incredible time for Christmas!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd can't wait for the organizing stuff coming up.... so need it!!!
I look forward to seeing more organising tips... my bedroom is in chaos I have no idea where I will be putting everything especially as a lot of it is "bottom draw" things that I have no choice but to box and pile up!!!!
ReplyDeleteVictoria xx
No fair! Even when Christmas blows up in your living room, your house still looks fabulous. And that wreath on the front door...ultra FAB. LOVE it! Thanks for giving me some motivation to get my butt in gear and get my declutter on. It is WAY past due!!! Can't wait till Jan 12th. Organization and decluttering make me all giddy. Yes, I know...I am a freak. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Aw, looks like you had a GREAT Christmas! I've started a bit early on decluttering and organizing though. It's driving me nutty too! Then onto my decorating projects!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy house was a mess too.. but yours still looks WAY BETTER. Here is the deal. I'm a total mess, and I, here goes the confession.... don't organize and de-clutter much. I know things would run more smoothly if I did, so I guess I've been watching your blog... as a way to perhaps inspire myself to organize my house. ha! I'm follow the Jan de-clutter extravaganza you are doing. If I put a picture up of my office, you girls would totally freak out. It might take an intervention or something.
ReplyDeleteI just did a big plastic toy purge and sorted all of the new stuff into bins in the play room. Now I want access to a laminator so I can make new labels. I always get crazy with the new clutter influx after Christmas. I'm dying to pack up all of the decor and move on but I'm not willing to give up the beautiful lights at night yet.
ReplyDeleteThe shark tent is a hoot and I LOVE the red flower wreath from target I've had my eye on it for the past 2 years!! Great find.
My daughter got that same nifty tent contraption (with the tunnels and all) last year and it has been SO WORTH IT!! She loves it especially when we set it up in the back yard in summer.
ReplyDeletePit here too, and I didn't even host Christmas! Our son and daughter in law moved to a new beautiful house and offered, but I hauled a lot of stuff and food, and got rid of a lot of stuff but brought more stuff home. Check out my post on "Stuff". Carol

OMG! My house looks just like that too.
ReplyDeleteWho knew that 2 year old toys could totally invade a living space like this??? UGH.
by the way --I found my Diamond Dust and Snow Tex at Hobby Lobby, of course!
I hadn't been out visiting in a while so wanted to pop in and see what you had been up to. Wishing you a bright and wonderful new year.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so strangely familiar. Ah, yes! I too have a pit. And if I were a shrew, I would have started dismantling it all on Christmas night. But I am being all "laid-back" about it, and letting them waller in it a bit longer!
ReplyDeleteBut Monday is a different story!
That wreath is beautiful! Our living room looks the same way only with a play kitchen and 200 pieces of play food all over! Our daughter does have that Geo Trax though and loves it!
ReplyDeletei got some great stuff at target as well, but i didn't see that wreath. that is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLet me just say that I am a first timer on your blog and loved your post! The pit...LOL I had 2 glasses of wine tonight to calm my nerves cause I thought it was just me getting cranky with the mess!! I told all the kids when I put them to bed, thats it I need everything put away TOMORROW, with a kiss and a hug goodnight!
ReplyDeleteI will visit again totally interested in the declutter!!
LuLu
Your house looks like mine right about now... I swear, we need a bigger place just to fit all of our Christmas gifts!
ReplyDeleteI was also victim to the tree that would not stand up last year. It was partly my fault for putting such heavy things on it, but we even weighted it down with a weight belt meant for scuba divers and the thing still fell over and broke a bunch of ornaments!
Happy New Year to your family!
I just posted a Post Christmas tour of my house. I can so relate...
ReplyDeleteOH wow, I am excited! I just DE-cluttered (with a capital DE) my daughter and son's rooms today. Not to mention did a thorough cleaning of the rooms. I plan to tackle the basement next. Good thing Amvets is coming Tuesday. I have 3 huge bags from just the kids rooms so far. And a lamp...
ReplyDeleteLove the wreath! I think $17 is a pretty good deal for something you'll use and LOVE for years to come. I love seeing all the toys out. I can just picture the kids having a blast. Have a Happy New Year!
