Love for At Home/Garden Ridge

I discovered Garden Ridge (now called At Home) a few years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Ours is a good 30 minutes away, so I only get over there a couple of times a year. But I do my best to get over in the spring/summer every year because of the variety they carry.
Their outdoor selection (and prices) are hard to match! They have an crazy good selection of cushions:
It’s really insane. They used to have an incredible selection of outdoor pillows too, but I didn’t see many this time. I’m sure they’ve mostly sold out already. (Cause it’s JUNE you know.)
They had a great selection of outdoor benches and chairs this time:
I thought that trellis design was super cute. I got a couple of steel end tables for the deck that I’ll show you soon.
I have wanted a hammock FOREVER. I tell hubby every year I want one for Mother’s Day, and we just never get to it. I have always wanted to hang it between two trees in our backyard, but we’d have to clear away a lot of brush to get it set up.
I came across the hammocks (for $30!!) at The Ridge and couldn’t resist:
They had the rope hammocks, and then the rainbow version and a blue and white stripe that I loved.
I had to go with the color though:
This thing is HEAVEN. Seriously, I could lie in there all day. Instead of dealing with the trees, I just got a stand while I was there, and it took about five minutes to put the whole thing together.
I’m so excited about my pretty hammock. :)
They have a TON of home decor too – I loved this large drum shade:
Isn’t that so fun?
It would perfect to for a DIY drum shade pendant or for updating your ceiling fan:
:) Wouldn’t it look FAB?
I loved these bookcases too:
I think the smaller one was $80? Maybe not, I wish I could remember!
They reminded me of this Ballard Designs version:
You’d save a good $500 easy. :)
I got all of our kitchen chairs from Garden Ridge about three years ago, and they’ve held up pretty darn well. They were all buy one get one half off.
These are the bar stools I have at our island, (ours were black):
I cut down the legs a bit, covered the seats and then painted them white last month:
LOVE!
Garden Ridge/At Home has a great selection of rugs too:
Not only area rugs, but a ton of kitchen rugs, welcome mats – everything!
But wait till you get a load of this…the pillow selection is like nothing I’ve ever seen:
HA! Told you! And this is one of THREE aisles. :)
Craaaayzay!
I love that they have smaller and larger sizes – usually about $10 and $20 respectively. I thought these were super cute:
I couldn’t resist a large and a small in this design:
Now I just have to decide where to put them – they go perfectly in the playroom and the living room!
Of course Garden Ridge has some…uh, questionable stuff too:
Although if I had a ton of storage space, I would so get a couple of those knights as Halloween decorations! :)
So, have you been? Got anything good? I wouldn’t say their quality is spectacular, but we’ve had good luck with the items we’ve purchased over the years. For the price, it’s a great deal.
I love hearing about new thrifty places to shop…got any good ones?
**I’m not getting paid to tell you about this place, I just love it!
I looooooooooove me some Garden Ridge!! I just don't get to that side of town very often either, so I go to Old Time Pottery more!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I SO wish I had one of these near me! It looks amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteWAAAH! Closest one to me is 200 miles!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! And I can't wait to see this sectional!!
I find Garden Ridge to be very hit or miss. I have to agree that their outdoor furniture section is fantastic, though. I got a pair of wooden adirondack chairs for Mother's Day this year. LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a garden ridge around here! It looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Susan
Wow, I have one of these near me but had no idea what it was so I haven't been there. Now, I'm going. They should know what great "advertising" your post is!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog - such great ideas!
Oh my word, what a FABULOUS store, I am doing a search right now!
ReplyDeleteWish I had one near me. Looks fabulous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI have one just around the corner across from Lowe's. It is hit or miss, but the pottery stuff for outdoors is awesome. Huge inventory, great prices especially if it is on sale. I bought a parsons chair from them several years ago and it has held up great. I check it fairly regularly cause like you and I said, its hit or miss.
ReplyDeleteI have a Garden Ridge about 15 minutes from me. I love to go there and browse. SLOWLY. I have to be careful to not fill up my cart everytime I go in there!! Love it! (Hmmm....I have no plans tomorrow. Maybe I'll take a ride!)
ReplyDeleteI would love it if we had one here. Nothing even close. I'll checking checking. Perhaps they will open one in this area. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI had planned to go to the Richmond Garden Ridge tomorrow, but I think I'm going to wait until next month. We used to have one closer to us, but up North. My mom would drag us in there as kids, and I hated it with a passion. Now that I'm grown and have my own place, I am dying to get back in there!
ReplyDeleteI want to hit this store so badly, I just Google Mapped the closest location to me. Five hours away! We don’t really have anything like this in Canada. It makes me wonder, should I give up free heath care for good shopping?
ReplyDeleteWe have a Garden Ridge down the street, love the funky things they have there..I get some of my Christmas balls here too..Love your ideas and your new hammock too
ReplyDeleteNancy..
We used to have a Garden Ridge about 30 minutes away from us but then it closed! But then, just a few months ago, they opened one at the MALL!!!! And it's right next to Home Goods/ TJ Maxx!! Talk about shopper's heaven!!! I make a pilgrimage there (it's still about a 20-minute drive) once a month. Such joy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGosh I wish we had one here where I live! I used to live in Miami n there was one there like 10 years ago but then they closed it down and have not found one since (sob..).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Garden Ridge, too! I just discovered the one on the west side of Indy a few months ago which is kind of far, but it has been a blessing so far, since my husband and I just got married and are trying to furnish a new house! I got the white "x" style desk (like the bookshelves and chairs you showed) and it was only $99 for the desk and chair set! Sure, it's not the best quality, but I changed the hardware and we get compliments on it from everyone that comes over! If it lasts us a few years that will be enough for me (we'll probably be onto something new by then anyways, haha).
ReplyDeleteOur Garden Ridge used to be wonderful. Now its like a clearance house..Pretty run down.Half filled tables in places..You can still find a few interesting things.I just purchased some metal vases and two metal chairs..Their wrought iron is more expensive than Old Tyme Pottery Barn..Seem to purchase more decor at OTPB..
ReplyDeleteMy Garden Ridge is not as awesome as yours, but I am going to cross my fingers that they have those rainbow hammocks. And if they don't, I might cry a little!
ReplyDeleteI have the last pillow that you just showed on my sectional!! I LOVE them!! (We got large and small ones as well) I recently found the exact fabric at Hobby Lobby too and I think I might buy a little and all it on to the ends of my panel curtains! I couldn't believe HL had that material!
ReplyDeleteA small explanation about previous post.Garden Ridge used to have quality goods.Dishes,Crafts, Party supplies, Statuary,Pedistals, tons of greenery, bridal florals and supplies, large pictures, mirrors,Cookware, rugs,Yard furniture and accessories ..Fabulous Christmas ornaments, miniatures , decor etcand they got rid of it all..The store itself has not been painted or kept up..Rough wooden tables with piles of cheap clothes piled up on it..Its in the best part of town..It looks like a reject warehouse.Im glad you have a nice one to shop in.This one has one checker..Im so angry..I feel betrayed..We shopped there many years..........
ReplyDeleteI love Garden Ridge, but refuse to shop there anymore. They don't have an exchange policy, only a return policy. Lemme explain.
ReplyDeleteLast year when we were building our home, we purchased 4 barstools (originally they are all $40 a piece, but on sale for $25 a piece). Turns out, the bar wasn't as high as we thought, so we went to return our high barstools for normal height ones. Thinking, we had our receipt, we were exchanging, so 4 chairs for 4 chairs, right? Nope.
They don't have an exchange policy. You can only return things. Which doesn't sound so bad, except for when you go to buy the items that you returned, they won't give you the sale price that you paid. They will only give you the current sale. Which at the time was Buy One, Get one half off. Called the manager, nada, couldn't get them to budge. So I had to return my 4 chairs for $100 ($25 x 4), and buy three chairs for $100 (buy one at $40, get one at $20, then buy one more at $40).
I looked up "Garden Ridge exchange" on google, and there are a ton of complaints about the same thing.
So while I love their prices, just make sure that you really like what you're buying.
I've been telling people for years to go to Garden Ridge. There was a time when probably a third to half of my decor items came from there (to be fair I worked there and used my employee discount to the full advantage). I love that place, so many good bargains.
ReplyDeleteAnd I gotta tell you those knights are a good seller. I worked there back in 2002 and they've always sold really well. Go figure.
Garden Ridge looks like a great place to go. Unfortunately, the closest one to me is four hours away! We have a Old Time Pottery Barn within a half hour though. I'll have to drag the hubby over there the next time we're in that neck of the woods. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteThis place looks a-mazing! I wonder if they have one in Florida...?
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Garden Ridge, but I just found out there is one 10minutes from my house! Time to go visit!
ReplyDeleteHa! It's so funny that you wrote this post (to me, anyway), because I have a "Love of Garden Ridge" post in the works myself. Love that store!! And you took a few pics of the same things I thought were awesome...like the pillow aisle(s). ;) I'll have to send you the link when I post it. Some of the prices can't be beat. I recently got a HUGE rug for our family room for $99. And did you check out some of the outdoor urn prices? Way cheap!! I'll have to go back and look at the drum shades though...how did I miss those?! And your hammock is seriously the best. I hope you get to spend many lazy hours in it!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Garden Ridge!!! Was just there the other day in fact!! Making my list of "must haves" and I will be returning very very soon!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Dallas TX-home to an amazing Garden Ridge...sadly, in Oregon, where we are now, there is NO GR...or Homegoods..or Hobby Lobby! Good thing is we get to move again in about a year...and it's gonna be
ReplyDeletecloser to civilization, LOL
thanks for posting this!! I moved from chicago (the land of every possible store) to Pittsburgh (the land lacking in Home Goods & Hobby Lobby!)...but they have a Garden Ridge...I'm totally checking it out--thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in FL I decorated my entire house from Garden Ridge, just loved it! Now in IL there isn't one :( and I'm bummed!
ReplyDeleteThe art on my wall are HUGE stretched canvases that I got buy one get one 1/2 off, 150 for both and I would easily pay 300 for one at a store like Marshalls or Homegoods (even though I love those places)
Sigh. Maybe they will be in CA when I move at the end of summer... a girl can dream!
Holy Cow!! I think I'm in love with a store called Garden Ridge! I just googled it...and one is scheduled to open in Orlando, FL in September! Woot! Woot!
ReplyDeleteI am...counting down the days...Tina

Bummer! The closest one is 6 hours away! Boooo! Looks awesome.
ReplyDeletewow that place is huge
ReplyDeleteThat place looks amazing, and the best part; it's now a whopping FOUR miles from my new home. Thanks for the heads up, I need some bookcases and patio items. We're checking them out today!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of the place til now and did a store location search and there's one 20 minutes from me! Who knew?!?!?!!
ReplyDeleteYea, yea, Garden Ridge IS great, but .... let's see/hear about that new sectional!! : )
ReplyDeleteI just found out that we are getting one of these in Orlando in September! Yay! I can't wait to check it out.
ReplyDeleteWow...I'm loving the pillows!!!
ReplyDeleteThis store looks fabulous! I wish we had one in Chicago. I recently started reading your blog and I really enjoy it! Thanks for the great ideas =)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Garden Ridge, but never been...our closest one is 3 HOURS away! Will surely visit some weekend...someday :)
ReplyDeleteI just checked the locations... and there are none in Cali =( !! This store looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteTiffany {Living Savvy}
I have never heard of Garden Ridge! It looks amazing. My closest thing would be World Market.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog for Scentsy Candles though, at least I can make my plain-jane home smell good (:

I live less than 4 miles away from the ORIGINAL Garden Ridge. It USED to be a fantastic place-I looked forward to the three day/night sales. Unfortunately, the quality of most of the things they sell has diminished exponentially.
ReplyDeleteWe do love the founder of the store though-he is a great guy, who has served our community well, financially and through service.
Stacy
I love this place...we need one! I think the pillows you bought would look adorable in my new bedroom! And I plan on trying your drum shade trick this summer in my new bedroom as well! Thanks for sharing, I feel like I kinda went shopping with you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that store! I'm sort-of in your region and I do have one near-ish to me! Yea! Loving that hammock - and the flip-flop tan! LOL too funny!
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to have one of those stores close by!!! Lucky y ou!!! Martha from Alabama
ReplyDeleteTheyve got some cute stuff in there sometimes I make Shan stop by on our way out of Dallas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal on those bookcases! Your stools are really pretty. I could have fun in a store like this. Wish we had room for a hammock!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
LOVE our Ridge here! I check them out about once a month, I grab a coffee from Starbucks on my way and spend a good hour shopping. It is my "Mommy Time". I have purchased several rugs and they are reasonably priced and hold up well considering I have 2 small children. My other favorite spots to shop for deals are Marshalls/Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Old Time Pottery and Hobby Lobby! I can lost in any of these places for hours.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to GR, but saw that there is one near me. I will check it out! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe GR in Louisville is about 1/2 away from me and not in an area I drive by, so I always forget about it. Thanks for the reminder. I'm always on the hunt for graphic pillows.
ReplyDeleteI L.O.V.E. garden Ridge. I remember going to one in Houston while visiting my aunt that was in an old mall. Each store was a different department. Unfortunately, ours closed several years ago, and now the the closest one is 4 hours away.
ReplyDeletePS: the pillow you got is in the same fabric I'm planning to use for my breakfast room drapes. You can get it at Hobby Lobby.
I love, love, love Garden Ridge. Unfortunately it's a tad more than half an hour to the nearest one for me. More like 5 and a half hours. So I don't get there more than once a year but I always spend way more than I intended when I do get there ;-p
ReplyDeleteNow I'm going to have to go to Garden Ridge!!!
ReplyDeleteI got that smaller book case for 50bucks. You just convinced me to go to Garden Ridge for a lamp shade. Thanks for all the inspiration. It's also 30 minutes away from me. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteFlip flop tan lines rank right up there with ring tan lines on your fingers - LOVE THEM! It means summer is in full swing and going great! :)
ReplyDeleteRobin from Missouri
I live in Round Rock Texas less than 3 miles from our Garden Ridge. Love to shop in there. I must admit it has been a while..just opened a Salvation Army Thrift store around the corner from the Garden Ridge...I have spent more time at the thrift store, but I need to check out our Garden Ridge this weekend for sure. Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes you can not see the forest for the trees.
ReplyDeleteClosest one to me is 2 hours away in Jacksonville.. I might just need to road trip it down there!
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love Gardenridge! We have lots in the Dallas metroplex, great store for cheap home decor. Can't beat that : )
ReplyDeleteSad day! I jumped online to find a store near me (Utah). I guess unless I want to fly to Oklahoma, I'm S.O.L. for now.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks.
Looks like a great store! wish i had one near me lovin' the flip flop tan!!!!
ReplyDeletegarden ridge is awesome! i love that place too! great finds!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should write about this topic. I regret not having learned to sew. I see so many beautiful fabrics in stores and would love to sew some pillows, table scarfs or throws. You've given me inspiration to get started.
ReplyDeletelooooooooooove having a hammock in between the trees at my parents house....going strong through 3 generations!
ReplyDeleteI am just reading this, but I actually went on Saturday! I was really good, though, and only bought a flower pot and some river rocks to build my toad house for the toad that just moved into my back yard. I could spend HOURS there. I also laughed at the leprechaun guys and the knights when I was there. No accounting for taste, I guess!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a huge selection!! It takes me forever to find a good pillow! Too bad we don't have one over here :(
ReplyDeleteI forced my mother to buy those exact pillows you did...they are gorgeous. Funny story, the Cincinnati shipment of those pillows stunk, like burned rubber.. mom and I were standing there smelling all the pillows and asking random shoppers to smell them..eventually the clerk brought some more out from the back from a different box..they smelled fine and they are in her guest room, that dad calls the hotel room.. LOL
ReplyDeletei love garden ridge! unfortunately, i've moved to an area that doesn't have a garden ridge store... however, we DO have an ikea. :o) i found my outdoor cushions there that i LOVE. i scored them at 75% off!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I have never even heard of this store... it looks amazing!!! I wish we had one... thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Ridge! I moved away from it in Texas. 30 minutes would be nothing for me - now I have to go three hours and haven't made the trip yet. :(
