A tour of our (new!) Christmas home

December 20, 2017

Hello and welcome to a tour of our holiday home! Be sure to check out a full list to the other ladies on the tour at the end of the post! This year it's a special one because it's our first in our new house. I'm honestly a little surprised that I got as much decorating done as I did considering I just emptied the last box (the ones not still in the storage room) a few weeks ago.

It has been a blast dressing up this house, I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy checking out the photos! I took a ton, as always. If you have questions about an item let me know but I will link to each space/some items at the bottom of the post. I also list some sources to the family room since this is the first you'll see it!

Oh and I took some of these in the evening and some during the day, so they go back and forth. You'll notice our Elf has moved in some of them. ;) I shared our front porch dressed up for Christmas here, but those pictures didn't have a cute dog in them:

I have to laugh when us bloggers say we're keeping decor simple -- because sometimes it doesn't look simple at all to me. 😂 But this year I really did tone it down, just for the sake of my sanity. I'm still getting used to the house too, so I took it easy this year. So, it's simpler than what I've done in the past, but may not be simple in your terms. :)

Tissue boxes count as decor in this house. ;)

I had big plans for the mud room/laundry, but we're still in this settling phase where we are constantly dumping stuff in there. I'm hoping to get it better organized now that wrapping is almost done and I'm done with holiday decor. I still love our big chalkboard and use it a lot!:

I splurged on those Luminara votive candles (hanging from the chandelier) at an online summer Christmas sale. They are the ones that look like real candlelight and are usually so expensive! They are SO cool. Love them.

Our great room is our absolute favorite place to be right now. It's the lights, candles, the fire and the cozy sofas...all of it makes it such a welcoming spot. We are obsessed with it!

Little houses were from the Target dollar spot! Actually a lot of our holiday decor is from there. ;)

I dreamt of this light for years -- we had no place for it in the old house. It was the first one I knew I wanted. It's the reason most of our rooms have no lights yet or $20 ones. ;) Totally worth it!!

Back when we were building I shared my ideas for the set up for this room. Symmetry won out -- duh. ;) Did you ever have any doubt? (I really did consider other options, but...it's ME.) I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it:

These are the rooms that were decorated in the house -- we have a tree in the basement and our son has a few things up in his room, but that's it. And it's plenty. Greenery, lights, candles and a few soft items like pillows and blankets go a very long way to making your home feel festive and cozy!

Centsational Style

I am lucky to call all of these women friends of mine and they are incredibly talented! You can see all of the lovely ladies on this week's tour below:

I'll be back later this week -- our school break is starting soon and we go into total hibernation mode for two weeks straight. So things will be spotty over the next couple of weeks but I'll be checking in. I'm already starting to get the itch to dig into some DIY projects in the new year so I promise things will amp up again soon! Can you believe Christmas is only in FIVE days away?? Time has absolutely flown by this year.

  3. Looks amazing! I'm in love with your dining room. We are hoping to redo ours this coming year and your photos gave me some great ideas.

  4. Your home looks gorgeous all dressed up for Christmas! I especially love the dining area with that beautiful light. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  5. I love how you decorated your home for the holidays!

  6. Your home is so warm and festive, Sarah! I can see many fun Christmases in your family's future! One quick question - your runner in your kitchen, do you have a source for that? I'm looking for a rug for my laundry room. Much thanks and have a very Merry Christmas!!

    1. Yep it’s from RUGS USA and I love it! I’ll look up the name.

  7. I am so impressed with how quickly you have unpacked and made this home your own! How fun to celebrate your first Christmas there! It is so pretty Sarah! I love everything :)

  8. I love the rug runner that you have in your kitchen. Can you please share where you found it?

  9. Thank you for including your cat in the photos. Everything is so very pretty, warm, merry and bright! The decor on the staircase seems "off" for some reason. Have you seen how centsationalstyle decked her staircase? That soft greenery, draped with soft toned ribbon might be an option to consider. It's fresh and contemporary yet works with traditional decor. Thanks for sharing and Meow! to that sweet cat.

    1. Using what I have this year and we love it! Doesn’t look off to us.

  10. Beautiful home and tasteful holiday decor without going overboard like I see too often. Well done!

  11. You just know that I am DROOLING over your new home, right Sarah??????????? Oh my gosh that kitchen....I could cook up quite the storm in there, no doubt about it! I love everything, you are truly an amazing decorator! Merry Christmas, enjoy the hibernation...that sounds heavenly, I would LOVE two weeks off, oh my gosh!

  12. I like your new simpler style! Beautiful!

  13. I so hear you about the keeping it simple thing! I found myself "undecorating" more, even after a week of decorating I started to put things away if things looked too busy. Congratulations on using what you have -- it's so tempting to run out and buy all new things. I love your pops of pine and red, all pulled together it has a very nordic feeling - which I LOVE. I can't wait to see what you do w/ your new house...happy holidays! Jeanette @ snazzylittlethings

  14. Hi - where did you get your liquid soap dispensers/tray next to the kitchen sink? House looks lovely!

  15. Beautiful home! Can you tell us about your family room rug?

  16. Looks lovely, Sarah... Are you able to share where you got those tea light holders on your dining room light that you got on sale? Wonder if they are still available?

    1. Thank you Julie! I got them on QVC! :) I think they sold out but definitely look this year!

  17. You did such an amazing job! Any idea where the Chandelier in your family room is from?

    1. Thank you! I found a similar one and linked to it up above! Thanks for the reminder!
