Our beautiful tree. Take two.

Isn't that gorg? I used the starburst setting on my camera!

First of all, ya'll are SO sweet! You made me feel so much better, I almost did cry just reading all your comments! :)

So we did the tree back up and I think it looks as good as the first time. It took FOREVER to get all the ornaments, ribbon, beady things, flowers, back in...how is it this time it took longer than the first when only half of them came off? Gah.

I had taken pictures last night of the tree, but couldn't bring myself to post them until it was back up...didn't want to jinx it you know!

But here it is in all it's glory! Hope you enjoy it:

I was laying on the floor enjoying the view!:

This was before, last night:

Tonight:

***Edited with new pic -- Mom Mom (what is your name? I love you, thanks for the idea with the lamp!!) I retook this so the lights turned out better.
Can you tell in the first one that it's leaning ever so much?? Oh yeah, sign of things to come...

Sigh. I do love our tree. Every year, I love it more. My favorite parts are the poinsettia blooms and ribbon. I think they totally finish it off. We always get a real tree for the living room, always ten feet. I just LOVE real trees, even with this year's drama. I have a couple other fake trees around the house that I'll show you soon.

Which do you have, real or faux? Either way, they are magical. Not so magical on the floor, but magical.

P.S. NO the stain is not out. It's bad. And yes, I took pictures. I'm calling Sears tomorrow and I am PRAYING they can get it out. The tree water also left a yucky mark over that whole area, so I'm going to have them work on all of it. Not crying...

P.P.S Oh and you SO KNOW I was on my way down to the basement to get the fishing wire, my drill and the anchors before we realized the base was cracked. I was going to rig that thing to the wall for all it was worth!!

  1. Oh! I'm so glad everything worked out for you... I would have been a WREAK!! I've never had a fallen tree before (knock on wood) although I have had my real tree breakout in BUGS!

The boys in my family always go and cut our trees down (tradition) and about 2 years ago we put our tree in. One week later the trunk was COVERD. IN. BUGS. Can we say EWWWW... we threw the whole tree out (decorations and all.) It was so sad for me. I hope the rest of your season goes smoothly! Thanks again for the give away, and all the fun decor ideas!!

  3. It is gorgeous! Love the starburst feature.

We don't have one this year since I'll be out of town, but I have ornamtents hanging everywhere so I feel like my whole house is a tree!

  4. Oh my word, when I saw the tree all tipped over I felt so bad! But look at the end result-- I can't believe you can produce that beauty once, much less twice. It looks gorgeous :)

  5. I'm glad to see that your tree is up and about again! It is beautiful, especially the photo with the "ting" in it. I use that on my tree also. I have a pencil tree and I love it. It's tall and skinny-minnie!

  6. Yay, it looks great...glad it's back up...bea-u-ti-ful as can be :-) We actually have 4 faux trees around the house now. Up until two years ago we always got a real tree...which I love but with the 2 dogs always bumping into it and the leaves falling off and the kiddos doing the same....I gave up (for now anyway). I hated vaccuming every day under the tree, hehe. But hopefully we'll get back to getting a real tree soon. I love going and picking one out, it's so much fun!

  7. Your tree looks gorgeous! I love the picture you took.

  8. It looks great! I think it looks like it has less lights is because in the second picture, you have on a table lamp. I think that took away some of the light from the tree. Try it again with that lamp off.

    Either way, it's gorgeous!

Good luck with your carpet :(

  9. I saw you blog when it was featured on Today's Creative Blog, and I just have to say that I LOVE everything that you have done! The pictures of your house are gorgeous, and you've given many great tips!

What a disaster with your tree, but it sure looks beautiful!

I actually have a question for you...
I have this nice, big wreath and I'm at a loss as to what to put on it. Do you have any ideas for decorating wreaths or could you put up pictures of any that you have? If so, thanks!!

  10. Oops! I didn't realize that I was logged on under my husband's account! My name is Lindsay, not Lewis!

  11. Enjoying your beautiful tree and hoping the stain comes out of the carpet! We usually have a real tree, but this year we have a 4 month old kitten. The two don't mix - no tree - so, I'm enjoying seeing all the trees on the blogs!

  12. Whew! I'm so relieved you got everything back together. I've been stressing all afternoon for ya! The tree looks FAB...of course. Everthing you touch turns to FAB. How did you get it to look exactly the same the second time around? Genius.

We have a faux tree. I used to be a Christmas tree snob and pledged to NEVER own a faux. But then I had babies and got sick of cleaning out their little mouths full of pine needles. I succumbed. And never looked back. I do so miss the smell of a fresh tree though. But.....guess what I found this year? This is BIG news, so... STOP. THE. WORLD. The most amazing reed diffuser fragrance called Frasier Fur. You can find it at THYMES.COM It is a little pricey but oh so worth it. It smells amazing. I am very picky about fragrances, especially those liquid ones. Some of them smell very chemically and not so good. Let me tell you, this stuff smells just like a yummy fresh tree. Incredible.

I apologize for the novel I just wrote in comment form!

  14. AMANDA!! I have that spray!!! We sell it at the decor firm I work for -- we had it last year and I wanted it BAD, but it was $20. I finally got it this year. You know, I never cared for pine scent until I smelled that. It is LOVELY. So funny!

  15. So sorry about your tree, but it looks like you got it back up and it's just as beautiful! I would have cried for sure! I hope the pink stain came out of the carpet. Thanks for registering for the tree frame! Kristen

  16. Your tree is GORG - as you would say! I just read about the catastrophe and I was about crying for you. I would have TOTALLY freaked out! You were a big girl though and didn't cry (or so you said). I also LOVE all your apothecary jars and how you fill them up. I never know what to put in them so I'll have to copy you. I made my Santa placemats with fabric I got from Joanns I think. I've had them a few years. Don't think I'm talented and that I sewed them. The fabric is hot glued to some old placemats I had. I am very impatient and like to do things quick and easy. Yeah, I need to get some sleep too so I'm off to bed, maybe just a few more minutes on the computer...

  18. It looks great:) I am with you about the fishing wire. After last year and the tree almost going over, I told my husband we could use fishing wire to hook it to the ceiling:) We plugged our tree in last night and what do you know, the light strand that is plugged in to the wall burned up and now I am off today to Walmart to buy another strand. This strand it the one that is at the bottom of the tree and the one that is pushed back up into the tree. It will be a lot of work to get it off and put a new stand on. Wish me luck.

  19. Love it! It's beautiful again! You are my hero.

Here's hoping the stain comes out of the carpet.

  20. Glad to see it back up! When I saw it down I was like "Oh no!" and started to hope that doesn't happen to my tree. This is the first year that my hubby and I have gotten a real tree and it's a big, 6 foot tree. We have a brand new, huge base but our problem is our 150 lb lab mix and our little dog and our cat, who occasionally thinks things that are hanging should be played with. Today's the first time we leave them alone with it for over an hour. I really hope our's doesn't fall like your's did... I just bought vintage glass ornaments...

Your tree is really pretty. I love the red and gold combo and you're right - the poinsettias and such really make it complete. I like the little branches that stick out (one of your pics shows them well).

  21. It's even more beautiful the second time around!! You did a beautiful job, I'm afraid if that happened to me, I wouldn't do a very good job the second time, I'd be crying too much.

**Hoping you get that stain out**

  22. Your tree is GORGEOUS!!! I'm so glad you were able to fix it.

I'm crying right with you on the carpet....I hope that stain comes out. That is one of my biggest pet peeves when I get a stain that I can't get out. Sniff.

  23. I was wondering about that floor and what it did to it! Those pictures turned out great! Gorgeous do-over!

  24. Yeah! It is beautiful. I am breaking out into song....."O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, how lovely are thy branches....."

  25. Very pretty! I feel your pain. I cried one year when the tree was all done and more than half the lights DIED. I couldn't get them fixed and had to undo and redo the tree! I was crying while doing it;)

  26. Sarah, I'm glad everything turned out so beautifully. You sure do have a positive attitude. I really like how you took pictures of the individual ornaments. I think I'll do that too. You inspired me to make a new lamp last night (I stuffed 100 white lights into an antique bottle ... I'll post a picture of it on my blog soon.) My husband said, where did you get that idea, did you just make that up? I said, no, I got it from Thrifty Decor Chick who's tree fell over in the middle of the night and was a big mess.

Have a wonderful week, and a Merry, Merry Christmas!

  28. I love your tree! Sorry about the mishap, but you recovered fabulously! I have used Folex Carpet Spot Remover from Wal-Mart, and it gets out just about anything. You might want to try it before giving Sears your first born! Even if it doesn't work completely, you can use it on other stains. It works really good though.

  29. Love this tree! Your decor is simply stunning, and that picture with the starburst is just perfect! Could be a holiday card! :) I just finished my decor (in one room anyway) and posted on my blog - I'd love you to stop by sometime.

  30. I have 2 things that could get your stain out. #1 Oxiclean. Seriously it works. I mix mine with hot water and get out a scrub brush and go to town. #2 White vinegar. Works Works Works. The smell goes away once it is dry.

  36. I have one bone to pick with you about your tree! I think you should have gotten a taller one! LOL All the way to the ceiling. lol other than that it is GORG!

  39. Your tree #2 is beautiful... but so sorry about the incident. :(

I swear by Spot Shot for stains however when I recently ran out with no spare in the house (THE HORROR!) I grabbed the bottle of Zout laundry stain remover and it worked fabulously.

Ya know this sure does seem to be the year for the decorations to be wreaking havoc on us... I've seen several posts with the gorgeous garlands dismantling themselves. What's up with that? ;)

    Hugs,
    Dana

  42. Great tree! We spent a lot of time researching the best Christmas tree stands and ordered a super-duper stand last year that is quite sturdy. I think we've about maxed out its height capabilities this year, though!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow...your tree turned out great both times!

You might try Oxiclean on your carpet. Just let it sit a little on the stain. That stuff takes all kinds of dirt out.

    Good luck and Merry Christmas!
