Our 2020 Christmas home tour

This Christmas means more than ever...because #2020, of course. I think we can
all agree, even with the good this year (and we've had a lot of it) -- it's
been rough. We're ready to celebrate this season in a big way and then say SEE
YA to this year.
I haven't mentioned it here, but a few months ago my sister and I lost our
mother. We had a difficult relationship with our mom for most of our adult
lives...but for most of our childhood she was an incredible mother. She truly
was my hero.
The loss has made me hate this year even more, and yet extra thankful for our
blessings. My word for this year...bittersweet.
I went nuts with the Christmas decor (at least for me), because I wanted to
really celebrate the season. I finally got the house cleaned up and took a ton
of pictures. Bear with me as I share it all with you!
I hope you enjoy and get some inspiration you can file away for next year!
(You can easily pin any of the photos by hovering over and clicking the blue
"pin it!" button.) If I have sources for items and projects I'll share those
under each photo.
Enjoy!

I lost my Dad unexpectedly on October 30. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing your first Christmas without your Mom. The house looks amazing! I hope you can find comfort and peace over this holiday! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy girl and your home looks so pretty and inviting! Thank you for sharing your many wonderful ideas. I’m so sorry about your Mom - better days ahead.
ReplyDeleteWishing you much happiness in 2021! Your blog is one that I love to read.
ReplyDeleteTo lose your sister & your mom....that would slay me. I am so very sorry.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks amazing! I think the stairs are my fave.
Your home looks amazing but I really did not think it would look any other way. :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Soo Sorry for your loss. I'm on OG Ive been following you since the begining! Love the home and the Christmas decor!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous home. Unbelievable how many projects you have completed in a short amount of time. Your beautiful Christmas decor highlights all of them. 2020 has been bittersweet. We sold our home and are in limbo waiting for God to direct where we should go next. I like closure and predictability, so living in an apartment away from our kiddos and grandkids (and throwing in a pandemic). It has been tricky. However, so much to be thankful for and so focusing on the hope that Christmas bring with the birth of Christ. God Bless you and your family! Can’t wait to be in a home sometime in 2021 and using your home as inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful, and so cozy! I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My sister and I have had a difficult relationship with my dad the last 11 years, and have only spoken to him once in the last four years. I had a very loving childhood home growing up with and I cling to those memories. I hope your memories of your childhood bring you some peace while you grieve the loss of your mom.
ReplyDeleteSarah, your home never disappoints! Warm, welcoming, beautiful! I love the 3D wooden snowflake on the console table...and all the reindeer. I am sorry to hear of your loss and hugs to you and your sister. Loss, regardless of relationship status, always stinks.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I hope your Christmas is delightful. Hold on to all the golden memories and they outshine any difficult ones.
ReplyDeleteYours is always my favorite tour...no matter the season! Beautiful, elegant, and never over done. The loss of a parent is never easy. I hope you can put aside the difficult memories and focus on the good ones that shaped you into the person you are today. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. My sister and I lost our mom in November. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on your mom's passing. Mother/daughter relationships can be really tricky; been there with my mom.
ReplyDeleteBut your home looks incredible. Not only the Christmas decorations but all the changes you've made to make it your own.. Beautiful!
You and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Sarah,I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I hope you have good memories to comfort you. Your home is absolutely gorgeous. It is so warm and inviting. Your attention to detail is perfect. I look forward to many more of your projects and inspirations. Have a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss -- I understand how that type of relationship is. Your home is lovely at the holidays just as it always is year round! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to read that you lost your mother; my own mother died just a week ago--she was 98, so we expected it--but despite all the feelings around our relationships with our mothers, once they are gone, a light goes dark. I join you in looking forward to a new year, with new happiness, and new chances to love the people around us. Peace be with you, Sarah.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your lovely home personalized through all your wonderful projects. I was sad to read of your mother's death, hope your good memories of childhood can bring you and your sister peace.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome home - not just a gorgeous house but also your touches make it such a welcoming place - I am so jealous….. Best, Regina
ReplyDeleteI am so very, very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a parent. The holidays make things that much harder. I am glad you were able to find joy in decorating your beautiful home, thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could tell me where you found the pottery on your living room bookcases. I really like how you have it all styled, and I would like to add more pottery into my decor.
Warmest regards~
I'm very behind in reading your posts, and just saw this one where you mention the death of your Mother. You have my sympathy, even though I'm very late. I'm grateful you and your sister have one another; having a sister must be wonderful, especially at a difficult time of loss. XO
