Our 2020 Christmas home tour

December 22, 2020

This Christmas means more than ever...because #2020, of course. I think we can all agree, even with the good this year (and we've had a lot of it) -- it's been rough. We're ready to celebrate this season in a big way and then say SEE YA to this year.

I haven't mentioned it here, but a few months ago my sister and I lost our mother. We had a difficult relationship with our mom for most of our adult lives...but for most of our childhood she was an incredible mother. She truly was my hero.

The loss has made me hate this year even more, and yet extra thankful for our blessings. My word for this year...bittersweet.

I went nuts with the Christmas decor (at least for me), because I wanted to really celebrate the season. I finally got the house cleaned up and took a ton of pictures. Bear with me as I share it all with you!

I hope you enjoy and get some inspiration you can file away for next year! (You can easily pin any of the photos by hovering over and clicking the blue "pin it!" button.) If I have sources for items and projects I'll share those under each photo.

Enjoy!
I hope you all have a safe, happy and magical holiday!! I'm so thankful for you all and grateful you return to follow along project after project. :)

  7. Gorgeous home. Unbelievable how many projects you have completed in a short amount of time. Your beautiful Christmas decor highlights all of them. 2020 has been bittersweet. We sold our home and are in limbo waiting for God to direct where we should go next. I like closure and predictability, so living in an apartment away from our kiddos and grandkids (and throwing in a pandemic). It has been tricky. However, so much to be thankful for and so focusing on the hope that Christmas bring with the birth of Christ. God Bless you and your family! Can’t wait to be in a home sometime in 2021 and using your home as inspiration!

  8. Your home looks beautiful, and so cozy! I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My sister and I have had a difficult relationship with my dad the last 11 years, and have only spoken to him once in the last four years. I had a very loving childhood home growing up with and I cling to those memories. I hope your memories of your childhood bring you some peace while you grieve the loss of your mom.

  9. Sarah, your home never disappoints! Warm, welcoming, beautiful! I love the 3D wooden snowflake on the console table...and all the reindeer. I am sorry to hear of your loss and hugs to you and your sister. Loss, regardless of relationship status, always stinks.

  16. I am sorry to read that you lost your mother; my own mother died just a week ago--she was 98, so we expected it--but despite all the feelings around our relationships with our mothers, once they are gone, a light goes dark. I join you in looking forward to a new year, with new happiness, and new chances to love the people around us. Peace be with you, Sarah.

  19. I am so very, very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a parent. The holidays make things that much harder. I am glad you were able to find joy in decorating your beautiful home, thank you for sharing it with us.
I was wondering if you could tell me where you found the pottery on your living room bookcases. I really like how you have it all styled, and I would like to add more pottery into my decor.
    Warmest regards~

  20. I'm very behind in reading your posts, and just saw this one where you mention the death of your Mother. You have my sympathy, even though I'm very late. I'm grateful you and your sister have one another; having a sister must be wonderful, especially at a difficult time of loss. XO
